Zara Faces Slave-Labor Allegations...Again | Ecouterre

Zara Faces Slave-Labor Allegations...Again | Ecouterre | 24-7 Fashion Should-Knows | Scoop.it
Zara is under investigation by Argentinian authorities over its alleged use of slave labor.

Via Ethicalista
Vivian's insight:

This is not the first time Zara has been charged with these allegations. The Government Control Agency raided a series of their factories and found the conditions of the workforce to be degrading. They were held inside (lock and key) and forced to work 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, with NO breaks. To make matters worse, it's said children were included.

A spokesman from Zara stated that they had no idea that one of their retalers were even under fire for these allegations and have not recieved any contact from the retailers and the Argentenian officials.

Zara is currently owned by Amancia Ortega, the 4th richest man in the world.

Vivian's insight:

Oh Stella Stella Stella McCartney...she was spot on in Paris for to showcase her f/w 2013. McCartney says she wanted to focus on her clothing being wearabe in any closet for any woman.

She brought her classic pin stripes and perfectly tailored style into her clothing. The clothing were accessorized by heavy strong shoes that represented an original working woman. A lot of the style was boyish, big and oversized- especially her coats.

Her line was sophisticated and I'm going to be honest...looked rich rich rich!

"The Fall/Winter 2013 season brought a raft of newcomers jostling for prime positions on the runways that mattered most. From Calvin Klein to Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, BCBG Max Azria, Burberry Prorsum, Prada, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Anthony Vaccarello, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Chanel, the following list of girls left an indelible impression as they traversed the four fashion capitals. A motley crew of relative newcomers including Mijo Mihaljcic, Dauphine McKee, Manuela Frey, Nicole Pollard, Sam Rollinson, and Senait Gidley broke through modelling's ranks landing squarely in the most blue chip show line-ups. Particularly gratifying though was the industry's sudden embrace of Dana Taylor, Sasha Luss, Tess Hellfeuer, and Amanda Murphy, whose years of grunt modelling finally paid dividends with influential casting directors and designers giving them the nod of approval. Perhaps most telling about this new group of in demand catwalkers is the relatability and life experience that these women bring to the fore, making them equally compelling both on and off the runway."

Vivian's insight:

Can  you belive it? Designers have made it easy for us fashion wanderers to prep up for f/w 2013. It was steamy in Paris with hot designers. Hermes made a statment with their 'of course' leather textiled clothing. Forecasters are predicting leather pants are going to be a hit this winter season. So we better have an eye out for those.

2013 is all about going back in time. Designers found a lot of inspriation from the 40's for f/w season clothing with addition to the "romanticism" look.

Let's just say, fashion week in Paris was truly inspirational. I can't wait to see what our proud county, the US of A, will bring this year.

Giada Gabrielli SS2013: Up the 60es

Giada Gabrielli SS2013: Up the 60es | 24-7 Fashion Should-Knows | Scoop.it

Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign takes us back to the swinging sixties. This time, the much referenced decade has been given a refreshing spin through the best brands, with shots inspired to the style icons of the period such Barbarella, James Bond Girls, Grace Kelly, Brigit Bardot, Audry Hepbourn. Also Giada Gabrielli, the shoe factory based in Le Marche, has expressed in its collection Spring Summer 2013 a tribute to the fabulous 60es. The cathalog is inspired by certain movies with Catherine Zeta Jones.
In shoes, color combinations often with perforations, chunky high heels, ties or buckles or showy accessories on the vamp and some square toe. Snappy perforated oxford, flat lace shoes and coordinate handbags

Via Mariano Pallottini
Vivian's insight:

for this S/S season, a lot of designers are getting their inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s. In Paris, they're bringing Gingham back (a much popular pattern back in the 50s-60s) and now other designers are getting inspired to include pieces of fashion from history.

Fashion icons of the of these two eras were the Bond Girls, Grace Kelly, Brigit Bardot, Audry Hepbourn, and Barbella. Designers are using these major style figures to incorporate their styles into their design. Giada Gabrielli has surely done that in their new s/s shoe collection.

The shows show some major 60s through their chunky high heels, ties and buckles, square toes, and the classic oxfords.

Gingham style: in Paris

Gingham style: in Paris | 24-7 Fashion Should-Knows | Scoop.it
Posted in Fashion / Fashion blog / Fashion pictures / Paris fashion week / Street style
Gingham has an undeniably wholesome quality. It’s emblematic of the 1950s and early ’60s, of apple pies and poodle skirts and pedal pushers.

Via The Meeddya Group
Vivian's insight:

Gingham? We've all heard of plaid but what about Gingham? It's a pattern very similar to plaid, aka as a checked pattern. Gingham is known for it's cutesy and lovely look and was very popular back in the 1950's and 1960's. Paris is bringing it back and making it stylish in the modern times of the 21st century.

In the picture above, the "parisians" have made it wearable in the chilly weather by putting a nice long coat/sweater over the light blue gingham pattern.

Go try it out!
