Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White to play

Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White to play | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
ATLANTA -- Tight end Tony Gonzalez and wide receiver Roddy White are active for the Atlanta Falcons, as expected, despite being listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.
Team Vernon's insight:

Roddy White has been one of the most consistent fantasy producers for the last few seasons, as he was third round draft pick in most leagues, including ours.

Injuries, however, have hampered White throughout the season, culminating Sunday. After combining for 21-points the last two weeks, fantasy owners began to believe in White's consitiency once again. That was a mistake. He was once again limited by injury, catching five passes for 53 yards.

Five fantasy points don't cut it in the playoffs.

Jason Campbell gives Cleveland Browns reason to hope despite another tortured Sunday -- Bud Shaw | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
The Browns found enough offense with Jason Campbell at quarterback to upset the New England Patriots Sunday. They also found another cruel way to lose.

Via Victoria Baldwin
Team Vernon's insight:

With the playoffs underway, Campbell has been a hidden gym for teams. His performance as a backup QB is stellar, as he threw four touchdown passes against the Patriots Sunday. His top receiving target is Josh Gordon, who has set an NFL record for yards in three consecutive games.

He's been a pleasant suprise for fantasy owners this season.

Victoria Baldwin's curator insight, December 10, 2013 8:10 PM

In Fantasy Land, it doesn't matter if your respective teammates actually win their games, you just need the points. Despite losing a heartbreaker to the Patriots, Campbell has proven to me he deserves the start in the championship game ahead of lackluster Joe Flacco.

Saints' Sproles, Evans practice fully

Saints' Sproles, Evans practice fully | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints had an injury report to be thankful for on Thursday. Running back Darren Sproles (ankle) and guard Jahri Evans (ankle) practiced fully after missing last Thursday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Team Vernon's insight:

A fantasy post about an offensive lineman? Crazy, I know, but Evans is a stuf offensive lineman for the Saints, who helps make one of the NFL's most elite offenses run. The running game and passing game in New Orleans should improve with Evans on the field.

Team Vernon's insight:

Drew Brees' favorite target, Marques Colston, is out this week, which hurts Brees' stock this week.

Now, this isn't time to panic, as Brees is still a top-five fantasy play in every week, but it doesn't help those like myself, who have relied on Brees' potent numbers this year.

Jerry Jones: Tony Romo says Terrance Williams is exceeding expectations

Jerry Jones: Tony Romo says Terrance Williams is exceeding expectations | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
For the third consecutive week, Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Terrance Williams hauled in a touchdown pass.

Via Andrew Curtis
Team Vernon's insight:

I had an uneasy feeling when Andrew Curtis picked up Williams off the waiver wire a few weeks ago. That feeling turned into mega-results for Curtis, as Williams has caught touchdown passes the past three weeks.

The Cowboys are a pass happy offense and have been putting up big numbers all season. I nearly drafted Tony Romo before the season started, and I regret not doing that. Romo tends to be drafted later than quarterbacks who put up similiar numbers because of his reputation for blowing games in the fourth quarter.

Well, this is real football. It's fantasy football. And if you have a Cowboys player, you're likely to be reaping the benefits.

Andrew Curtis's curator insight, October 26, 2013 12:36 PM

Williams has been a pleasant surprise. I picked him up off the waiver wire a few weeks ago and he hasn't disappointed. Due to the production, or lack there of, from Miles Austin, who has been injury-plagued, Terrance Williams has been one of the steals of the season in terms of roster pickups.

Team Vernon's insight:

Gave this a click because I saw my hometown Texans provided some fantasy insight. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised with a nice big of advice.

The post suggests looking into Alshon Jeffery for your team. In week five, Jeffery had 218-yards and a touchdown. With Jeffery being available in 32-percent of fantasy leagues, he's a strong addition to any fantasy team looking for a flex-position or added depth.

Bears counting on pressuring Brees

The Bears could finish Sunday's game against Drew Brees with only one or two sacks and still improve their pass rush.
Team Vernon's insight:

Better luck next year, Chicago.

The Bears can harp on getting pressure on Brees all they want, but they learned Sunday it's much harder to actuallu accomplish than talk about.

Brees torched the Bears, throwing for 280-yards and two touchdowns, with a quartback rating of 120.OO.

Brees is as safe as it gets for a fantasy quarterback.

RotoExperts Fantasy Football: No Real Hope For Dwayne Bowe Owners
SportsGrid
RotoExperts is excited to announce the addition of veteran pro football writer and Fantasy analyst Steve Silverman to the team.
Team Vernon's insight:

I don't know if I agree with this sentiment.

Bowe is a physical freak at 6-foot-2 and 221-pounds. He's only played three games thus far with his new quarterback, Alex Smith, and his new coach, Andy Reid. While fantasy oweners should be concerned, they shouldn't drop Bowe at this point in the season.

If Reid can figure out a way to get Bowe involved, he could have a few huge games as the season cotinues, particuarly with so much focus on running back Jamaal Charles.

Bowe is off to a poor start, sure, but it's not time to hit the panic button yet.

Rapid Reaction: Saints 31, Cardinals 7 | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
NEW ORLEANS -- A few thoughts on the New Orleans Saints' 31-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, which moved the Saints to 3-0 on the year.
What it means: It’s pretty much official now that this Saints defense is truly new and improved.
Team Vernon's insight:

Drew Brees was his typical, productive self Sunday, throwing for 342 yards and three touchdowns against the Buccaneers.

The best sign for Brees fantasy owners may be in the fact that the Saints defense absolutely controlled the game. A better defense means that the Saints will have the ball for more of the game and more pass attempts for Brees.

All signs point to another stellar fantasy season fro Brees.

Is LeSean McCoy a Legitimate Threat to Break the NFL Rushing Record?
Team Vernon's insight:

Would never have thought this was possible when the Eagles hired Chip Kelley from Oregon. Kelly is known for his past first, spread offense, which he has brought to the NFL.

McCoy, however, seems to be excelling in this new offense, as his speed pays huge dividens in open space. It's unlikely he can break the rushing record, but he still appears primed for a monster fantasy season.

Team Vernon's insight:

Marques Colston has become a consistent fantasy reciever over the last few years. He's off to a very similar start this season, as he had five receptions for 68-yards and one touchdown in week 1.

A healthy Colston will be curcial for my team in week 2, especially as he'll be lining up some against Pro-Bowl defensive back Darrell Revis.

ESPN (blog)
Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is aggressively rehabbing his strained right hamstring and maintains his hope that he'll be available for Sunday's game against Buffalo.

Via Drew Parks
Team Vernon's insight:

Jones-Drew, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career, had another hamstring injury against the Texans. That's the bad news, the good news is that Jones-Drew has an additional three days to rehab his hamstring, as the game against Houston was on Thursday.

Still, Jones-Drew is not in great shape and it's altered his play this season. He's much slower than in year's past, averaging 3.5 yards per carry, compared to 4.8 in 2012.

Hoping he can make a good recovery for later weeks, but I'm benching him from my flex spot this week and starting Pierre Garcon because Garcon has a good matchup against the Falcons and the Jaguars are facing a tough Bills defense.

49ers notes: Rams’ Tavon Austin gives 49ers something to think about - The Sacramento Bee

49ers notes: Rams’ Tavon Austin gives 49ers something to think about - The Sacramento Bee | Fantasy football | Scoop.it
Speedy rookie has given St. Louis a big boost in recent weeks.

Via Ryan McCarthy
Team Vernon's insight:

Austin has been one of the most interesting fantasy players of the 2013 season. The rookie reciever entered the year with a load of hype and dissapointed most owners for the first half of the season. There was a three week stretch where Austin caught six passes for 41 yards earlier this year. Just as many owners began to give up on Austin, he exploded for St. Louis, including a 138-yard, two touchdown performance against the Colts two weeks ago.

Austin will be a big part of the Ram's offense as they continue their surprise stretch of winning football.

Ryan McCarthy's curator insight, November 30, 2013 3:52 PM

Austin has racked up 46 fantasy points the past two games. He's truly a talent for many positions. Whether it's running, recieving or special teams, Austin remains a huge part of why the Rams continue to improve each week.

Team Vernon's insight:

In need of a tight end, the Cleveland Plain Dealer suggests picking up Owen Daniels of the Houston Texans. I, however, don't agree with this suggestion. Sure, he's coming back from an injury, but the Houston offense is a complete and total mess. If the Texans couldn't score a touchdown against two-win Jacksonville, why would the put up good numbers against New England?

Tweak? Limited? These words scream "Don't play me" for this week in fantasy.

Jackson has been a strong play at wide reciever throughout the season, catching 45 passes for 673 yards and five touchdowns.

With Jackson hurt, however, and Matt Barkley playing quarterback for the Eagles, it may be worth benching Jackson this week.

Fantasy Football Week 7 QB rankings

ESPN's fantasy football rankings of quarterbacks for Week 7.

Via Heather Nelson
Team Vernon's insight:

Whatever will I do without Drew Brees? No, seriously.

Brees, my best fantasy player, has a bye this week. These ESPN rankings are a good source for finding a strong backup quarterback for one week.

New Minnesota quarterback Josh Freeman is an interesting name here. While he struggled in his first game back, the Vikings still threw the ball 53-times Sunday.

His accuracy should improve with another week of practice. Lots of passes should result in more points.

Heather Nelson's curator insight, October 18, 2013 2:31 PM

Thankfully, Matt Ryan is still in the Top 10, despite his team's overall performance. I mean, he is a good quarterback, but he can't do everything for the team.

Pick your poison: Sproles, Graham deadly
ESPN (blog)
The Dolphins allowed Saints running back Darren Sproles to rack up more than 100 receiving yards during that span.
Team Vernon's insight:

There's a monster growing in New Orleans, and it lives off of Drew Brees' arm.

The Saints passing attack has put up oodles of points and yards on a weekley basis, and that doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon. In fact, with Darren Sproles emerging at running back, recieving for more than 100-yards against a strong Dolphins defense, the Saints offense only seems to be getting better.

The only time I have to worry about my quarterback play is when I have a bye — a day I will surely dread. Until then, it's all smiles.

It doesn't matter what Graham is focused on, as he's off to another stellar fantasy football start.

Graham's 58 fantasy points lead all tight ends by nine points. His 23 catches for 358-yards and four touchdowns have proved him worthy of the high draft pick most fantasy owners needed to aquire him.
