Jerricho Cotchery Back In The Rotation Against The Dolphins | Steelers Depot

Jerricho Cotchery Back In The Rotation Against The Dolphins | Steelers Depot | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
By Matthew Marczi For one reason or another, it seemed as though Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery had somewhat fallen out of the rotation in
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Ben Roethlisberger has been rather inconsistent in spreading the ball around this year. Antonio Brown has been there the whole time, but the other receivers have had their good games and then games where they haven't seen hardly any targets. Jerricho Cotchery is too talented to not get the ball at least four or five times a game.

Riley Cooper 'loves' Eagles' offense, wants to re-sign

Riley Cooper 'loves' Eagles' offense, wants to re-sign | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
With both Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin set to become free agents, Chip Kelly and the Eagles must decide what to do with Philly's talented group of wide receivers this offseason.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

This comes as no surprise. The Eagles offense has thrived ever since Nick Foles replaced Michael Vick as the starting quarterback. In Chip Kelly's offense, Cooper has become the favorite target of Foles. The future is bright for the Philadelphia offense. As the show says, it's always sunny in Philadelphia.

The Redskins Blog | Alfred Morris Leads NFL In 20+ Runs | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it

Morris has proven to be an explosive player this year. If the Redskins can get him going Monday night against the 49ers, they might have a chance to pull off the upset at home in front of a national audience.

Michael Vick's support helps Eagles WR Riley Cooper emerge

Michael Vick's support helps Eagles WR Riley Cooper emerge | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
PHILADELPHIA -- The headlines are now being generated by Philadelphia Eagles receiver Riley Cooper's hands, not his mouth.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Vick, familiar with controversy and media scrutiny, is the perfect teammate to help Cooper get through this situation. Cooper, with his quarterback's help and support, has been making headlines for his performance lately, rather than his off-the-field issues.

Newton: Panthers' rebirth big for Carolinas

The Carolina Panthers aren't talking playoffs yet, but there is no doubt Sunday's 10-9 victory against the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park has increased expectations.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

The hottest team in the NFL outside Kansas City resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Led by quarterback Cam Newton and the 2nd ranked defense in the NFL, the Panthers have rejeuvenated their fanbase and the entire region. Newton has a big opportunity to shine, both for my fantasy team and in front of the entire nation, on Monday night against Tom Brady and the Patriots in front of his home fans.

Riley Cooper sent home sick from Eagles practice

Riley Cooper sent home sick from Eagles practice | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Everyone on the Eagles benefitted from Nick Foles‘ record-tying seven touchdown passes, but wide receiver Riley Cooper benefitted a bit more than most.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Just when Cooper looked to have built great chemistry with quarterback Nick Foles, this happens. He had three touchdown receptions in Sunday's blowout win in Oakland. It looks like he will play against the Packers this Sunday, but I'm not expecting half the numbers he put up last week. Playing football sick isn't easy.

Practice report: James Jones back in pads

Practice report: James Jones back in pads | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers receiving corps was back at full strength – or as full as it will be until Randall Cobb is eligible to
Andrew Curtis's insight:

When a player practices on Thursday, it's usually a good sign they will play on Sunday. With that said, a setback forcing him to sit out Friday would make the situation really interesting. Jones is listed as questionable, so I'd wait until Sunday morning to make a decision on whether to start him or not.

Cam Newton says he can do more, play better for Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton says he can do more, play better for Carolina Panthers | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, in the midst of a three-game hot streak, thinks he can still do more, play better.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Newton is saying the right things. He's been as good as any quarterback in the NFL the last few weeks and the team is over .500 for the first time in five years, but that doesn't mean he can't get even better. My fantasy team would welcome that.

Injury report: James Jones feared the worst | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones said he feared the worst when he injured his left knee Oct. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

It's really too bad Jones has to sit out this week against a Vikings team that appears to have thrown in the towel. Aaron Rodgers is going to have a field day throwing the ball.

Steven Jackson, Roddy White absent at Falcons practice

Steven Jackson, Roddy White absent at Falcons practice | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White said last week that the team is missing an identity through six weeks of the season. They’re also missing White. The team got back on the practice field following their bye on Tuesday and D.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Roddy White has been the biggest bust in all of fantasy football this year. Continually missing practice and not being productive in games finally irritated me enough to drop him from my roster. Hopefully he's as useless for someone else's fantasy team as he was for mine.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers roll past Vikings 35-10 | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
The good Cam Newton showed up Sunday, and the Carolina Panthers followed their quarterback’s lead to an easy win against the Minnesota Vikings.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Newton put up a season-high 30 fantasy points against Minnesota and of course I had him on the bench, giving Team Baldwin an easy win. GO FIGURE. Lesson learned. He will be my starting quarterback the rest of the way.

“All is well” with Alfred Morris’ ribs

“All is well” with Alfred Morris’ ribs | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
The Redskins may have started 0-3, but a win in their Week Six date with the Cowboys could see them in first place in the race for .500 that the NFC East has looked like it will be to this point in the season.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Morris, coming off a bye week, better be good to go Monday night against a suspect Dallas defense. I need his production that hasn't really been there yet this year.

John DeShazier: Darren Sproles inflicting all-purpose mayhem on opponents  | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Running back's game Monday night was typical of his career
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Sproles had a monster game against the Dolphins on Monday. He showed off his ability to run the football, catch the ball out of the backfield as well as be dynamic returning kickoffs and punts. New Orleans will need his multitasking and big play abilities on Sunday when they face a stout Bears defense.

Antonio Cromartie back at practice before date with “scary” Newton

Antonio Cromartie back at practice before date with “scary” Newton | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Jets coach Rex Ryan is a fairly confident character when it comes to his defense, but the prospect of facing Panthers quarterback Cam Newton gives him a little pause.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Newton is a really good athlete. Ryan is saying the right things leading into this week's matchup in Carolina. While Newton has had a tremendouse season for the Panthers, Ryan should be encouraged for two reasons: Antonio Cromartie should be able to give it a go on Sunday and Newton had his worst game of the year last Sunday night in New Orleans.

Cotchery Is Big Ben's New Heath Miller

Cotchery Is Big Ben's New Heath Miller | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
For years—since 2005 to be exact— Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller has been quarterback Ben Roethlisberger 's go-to receiver. He's been reliable, catching 441 of a career 572 pass targets...
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Cotchery has burst onto the scene in the past few weeks, quickly becoming Ben Roethlisberger's new safety blanket. With Antonio Brown demanding double teams and Heath Miller hobbling with injuries, Cotchery has developed into a reliable option for Big Ben, putting up consistent numbers over the past few weeks.

Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Philly Needs To Stop Alfred Morris

Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Philly Needs To Stop Alfred Morris | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
There is one man the Philadelphia Eagles must stop if they want to break their home losing streak and win on Sunday. It isn’t Robert Griffin III. It’s Alfred Morris.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

In a big NFC East divisional game, both Philadelphia and Washington are facing a must-win situation. The Eagles haven't won at home in awhile, so the best way for them to break their slump is to slow down Alfred Morris, before he sets up the passing game for Robert Griffin III. The best way to beat the Redskins is to make them one-dimensional, and that's what Philly is going to try to do.

Teammates Ben Roethlisberger and Jerricho Cotchery grinding out quality season

Teammates Ben Roethlisberger and Jerricho Cotchery grinding out quality season | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
Cotchery caught a career-high three touchdown passes in the loss to the Patriots. With free agency looming, the Steelers would be wise to consider keeping Cotchery in town for another year or two.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Jerricho Cotchery (one of the best names in football) is building a great bond with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger despite the team's struggles in the win column. The duo looks to be on the same page, no matter what the situation. The Steelers have been finding themselves down a lot in games thus far, so Cotchery's fantasy owners are reaping the benefits. I just picked him up last week. Let's see what kind of production he gives me.

Andrew Curtis's insight:

Newton has established himself as a top five quarterback in the NFL. The question now becomes, can he take the next step? That's a tall task this week in facing the vaunted 49ers defense. Something tells me Cam is up to the challenge. He rose to the occasion in college against quality defenses like Alabama and in the biggest of games.

Cowboys Corner: Terrance Williams is growing into a dependable target for Tony Romo

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has said repeatedly that rookie Terrance Williams "is growing up right before our eyes." Williams took another step Sunday with two catches for 27 yards and a touchdown, the team's only passing touchdown.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

If Williams keeps producing, the oh-so talented Dez Bryant could turn from playmaker to decoy in the 4th quarter, commanding double-teams and opening up space for Williams to make key plays in situations that have haunted Tony Romo in the past.

Jerry Jones: Tony Romo says Terrance Williams is exceeding expectations

Jerry Jones: Tony Romo says Terrance Williams is exceeding expectations | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
For the third consecutive week, Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Terrance Williams hauled in a touchdown pass.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Williams has been a pleasant surprise. I picked him up off the waiver wire a few weeks ago and he hasn't disappointed. Due to the production, or lack there of, from Miles Austin, who has been injury-plagued, Terrance Williams has been one of the steals of the season in terms of roster pickups.

Team Vernon's curator insight, October 28, 2013 10:48 AM

I had an uneasy feeling when Andrew Curtis picked up Williams off the waiver wire a few weeks ago. That feeling turned into mega-results for Curtis, as Williams has caught touchdown passes the past three weeks.

The Cowboys are a pass happy offense and have been putting up big numbers all season. I nearly drafted Tony Romo before the season started, and I regret not doing that. Romo tends to be drafted later than quarterbacks who put up similiar numbers because of his reputation for blowing games in the fourth quarter.

Well, this is real football. It's fantasy football. And if you have a Cowboys player, you're likely to be reaping the benefits.

Cam Newton, Panthers above .500 after easy win vs. Bucs

Cam Newton, Panthers above .500 after easy win vs. Bucs | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score Thursday night to lead the surging Carolina Panthers to a 31-13 victory over the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

This was a much-needed performance for Newton against a dreadful football team in Tampa Bay. My team will need Cam to get it done both in the air and on the ground like he did Thursday night if they want to have any shot at the fantasy football playoffs.

Cam Newton says he has to be better in second half of games

Cam Newton says he has to be better in second half of games | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
The Carolina Panthers have led at halftime of all four games this season and yet are just 1-3 at the quarter pole of their season.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Admittedly so, Newton has been a huge underachiever this year. ESPN ranks him as the 22nd best quarterback in the NFL to date this season, statistically. If he had reached his potential, my team would probably be 5-0 instead of 3-2. Facing the Vikings' 22nd ranked pass defense this week, I'm expecting big things from Cam.

Williams Shining For Cowboys After Slow Start - CBS Dallas / Fort Worth | Fantasy Football | Scoop.it
The rookie receiver recovered from his slow start to be the No. 3 guy behind Dez Bryant and Miles Austin, only to have a good game in San Diego spoiled by a fumble that ended all hopes for a comeback two weeks ago.
Andrew Curtis's insight:

Williams had his best performance of the season last week against Denver in helping quarterback Tony Romo to a franchise record 506 yards. I'm banking on Williams building on that performance this week.
