Deputy Lord Mayor Tony Brett attacks Unite Against Fascism war memorial demo
THE Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford has criticised anti-fascist campaigners for an “unruly” protest against a far right group at the city’s war memorial.
Liberal Democrat Tony Brett said the Unite Against Fascism demo in St Giles showed “hate” to a planned event by the English Defence League (EDL).
The EDL planned a wreath laying at 1pm on Saturday for “fallen hero” Drummer Lee Rigby, killed in an alleged terror attack in Woolwich on May 22.
The Oxford Mail attended from 12.45pm to 1.15pm and no wreaths were layed. There was no apparent EDL presence except for about 30 protesters.
Oxford City Council member Mr Brett said the protesters “jeered” at people and “floral tributes were squashed and badly damaged”.
There was “no sign” of EDL banners, clothing or “behaviour” he said, adding: “What I saw was a loud and unruly bunch who were showing hate towards what seemed to me to be a peaceful and lawful act of remembrance.”
He said on his blog: “If I do see any hate activity from any group in Oxford I will challenge it rigorously but the only hate I saw today was from the protesters.”
Unite Against Fascism branch treasurer Tracy Walsh said it feared the EDL would use the event as a “smokescreen for their anti-Islamic views”.
Adding she did not see anyone damage the flowers, she said: “We were very mindful of the fact that it was a war memorial.”
Flowers were on the Oxford cenotaph but there was no reference to the EDL on them.
The EDL had organised similar events around the UK yesterday. It was not available for comment.
A small number of police attended the demonstration but stood at a distance and did not intervene.
Shropshire BNP will no longer tolerate the Establishment’s failure to properly protect our people from racist hate crime - so as well as our ongoing campaign regarding this issue, we have also decided to set up a self defence group (named by local YBNP members) called the White Tigers.
The White Tigers will not only help to educate local young Britons about the dangers of racist 'grooming' and 'pack attack' gangs, we will also train them how to physically defend themselves too.
Grooming gangs have been operating in Shropshire for years and reports of racist attacks on white youths are increasing in the area.
These crimes go unrecognised simply because the Establishment ignores hate crimes when the victim is white. Many young white people never report these attacks for fear of being branded racist themselves.
We doubt that certain sections of the Establishment will receive this news gladly; well that's just too bad.
Time and again our young folk have been let down and ignored by teachers, the police, the news broadcasters (especially the BBC), and social services.
Perhaps if they had taken anti-white racist hate crime more seriously then we would not have had to resort to setting up our own self defence group.
We stress that the White Tigers will have no political role.
The self-defence aspect for youngsters is just that, and nothing more.
Betrayal by the authorities and the aggressive racism of certain minorities makes this a sad necessity, but the campaign for political change is, and will remain, an entirely separate and totally constitutional one.
As our Shropshire streets are no longer safe, and with 'political correctness' putting the mental and physical wellbeing of young white people at risk, Shropshire BNP have decided to take direct action and provide our youngsters with the means to survive an increasingly hostile environment.
Qualified and experienced instructors have offered their time for free and ex-military professionals will offer advice on physical training. Look out for future reports, including details of a planned 'extreme winter training camp' which will be held mid winter in a rural environment. We hope to make a film of some of our over 18's during their training.
Our officers are trained to respond to any incident they are called to and regularly put themselves at risk to protect the public and keep the peace.
After two Muslim terrorists beheading a British soldier in London, cops arrested an 85-year-old woman for shouting “Go back to your own country” at mosquegoers. Not only did they arrest her, but they even handcuffed her.
The wording of the original story , “the pensioner was handcuffed and taken away in a van by officers attending the Canterbury Street mosque for Friday prayers” appeared to suggest that the officers arresting her were Muslims, which explains their abusive reaction to a British citizen exercising her rights.
Now the police division has responded to criticism of their outrageous behavior with a defensive email, stating, “I am disappointed to read your views of the police response to the tragic event in Woolwich… our officers are trained to respond to any incident they are called to and regularly put themselves at risk to protect the public and keep the peace.”
Yes, one can only imagine the risks that the Muslim thugs in uniform experienced when dealing with the brutal violence that can only be unleashed by an 85-year-old woman. Considering that she was both a woman and an infidel, they probably had to spend a few hours on ritual washing before they could go back to praying to Allah to destroy the UK.
“A decision had to be made by the officers in attendance whether to make an arrest for the offences committed… the public order offence takes place in front of other members of the public, and there were a significant number of people present due to the time of day. The officers made the decision to arrest based on the situation at that time and with further consideration for further offences being committed by the individual or others if no arrest was made.”
One can only imagine what other horrors the old lady might have committed if the courageous Muslims hadn’t clapped her in irons.
But the justification is typically revealing. It mentions what offences might have been committed by others if she hadn’t been arrested. Which is to say that she was arrested because of potential Muslim violence. This Muslim felony rule is being used to go after people who “provoke” Muslim violence.
But meanwhile it took the police 20 minutes to respond to the butchery of a British soldier.
Three women police officers spent a day in full Muslim dress as part of a scheme to improve community understanding.
Two sergeants and a community support officer dressed in head-to-foot burkhas and other traditional clothing and went out shopping. Meanwhile a group of Muslim women were invited into police cells, a CCTV control room and shown other daily duties of a police officer. The move was part of a police initiative dubbed "In Your Shoes" taking place in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. But it has attracted strong criticism from onlookers. Matthew Elliott, of the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: "This is an absurd diversion from real policing.
"People want the police out catching criminals, not indulging in politically correct gimmicks. "The police are overstretched as it is without officers being paid to do other things than their real job." Douglas Murray, director of the Centre for Social Cohesion, said: "This has nothing to do with crime. "Like most people who have been a victim of crime, I am amazed and flabbergasted that they have solved all the crimes so they can spend a day playing dressing-up games. "I did not know it was the job of police to see how people feel. I thought it was their job to solve crimes. "This is a fantastic demonstration that for the last 10 years the British police have been having an institutional nervous breakdown. They do not know what their job or their role is." The clothes-swapping day took place earlier this year in Sheffield town centre and followed a similar event in Barnsley. The officers wore brightly-coloured traditional Muslim outfits and a full-length black jilbab plus a niqab, which covers the face leaving slits for eyes. Sergeant Deb Leonard, who wore some of the clothing, described her experience in a South Yorkshire Police in-house magazine. She said: "I have gained an appreciation and understanding of what Muslim females experience when they walk out in public in clothing appropriate to their beliefs. "We are keen to gain a better understanding of issues which our communities face." No one from South Yorkshire Police was available to comment. But the in-house magazine added: "The exercise is just one of many activities South Yorkshire Police has planned with communities and ethnic minority leaders to secure strong relationships, celebrate diversity and encourage integration, working towards a safer, closer society."
