An empire fails generally due to overexploitation and they begin to loose their resources. Empires tend to loose money since they're extremely expensive to uphold. All of their natural resources begin to diminish.

It's interesting to here that ancient egyptian women were seen as equal to men. Although not many ruled as a Pharaoh, Hatshepsut was one of the few who did. She built temples and other public buildings in efforts to build her city.
