81% of College Students and Their Families Will File For Aid Through FAFSA | Business 2 Community | FAFSA | Scoop.it
According to TurboTax's latest Infographic on college aid, we're made aware that the Office of Federal Student Aid processes nearly 14 million financial aid
Alex's insight:

My Thoughts:

Through this article we learn just what percentage of college students will file for aid through FAFSA. The number is around 81%, which is to be expected. Most American families require assitance in paying for their childrens college education. With tution as expensive as ever, many are turning to FAFSA for the help they need. I was also interested to find out that the aid recieved from FAFSA may also be used for expenses other than tuition, such as food and phone bills.

This graphic was great to help clarify for what the FAFSA does and how it works alongside some neat pieces of data such as deadlines depending on where you live. It also gives some statistics based on the percentage of students applying for financial aid and the average percentage of the college expenses that are payed through what means based on the average student. One thing that was very important to me was that I don't neccesarily have to only spend the money I earn on tuition and room and board, though this should be the first priority for anyone of course, but it was awesome to find that any money I have after that could be used to pay for other school-related expenses whcih would be a great help to me and others who might not be able to afford some of these neccesities with their income or families income alone.

Alex's insight:

My Thoughts:

I agree with the ideas presented in this article. It is never too early to start planning for the future and college is no different. Classes are starting as early as this summer and tuiton is not cheap. Filling out the FAFSA is a great way to help you pay for some of that education. It is important to fill the FAFSA out sooner, rather than later because that way colleges can get back to you quicker.

My thoughts:

This is a very helpful guide! We know that filling out the FAFSA is important but what we are supposed to do afterwards, is rather mystireous. In this article we learn that we may modify our current FAFSA should we see any problems with it. We can also make sure the amount of funding we are recieving is adequate.
