25 Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset - InformED

25 Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset - InformED | Teaching, Learning, and Leadership | Scoop.it
“This growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments, everyone can change and grow through application and experience.”

This is important because it can actually change what you strive for and what you see as success. By changing the definition, significance, and impact of failure, you change the deepest meaning of effort.

In this mindset, the hand you’re dealt is just the starting point for development. So how does this apply to learning and what can we do to help instill this attitude in our students?

Frequent, low- or no-stakes, recall-based formative assessment is the most effective method of securing content and skills in the longterm memory. I worked through scores of research pieces, and they all indicate the same thing. Please read this piece from the wonderful people of the Global Digital Citizen Foundation. Blended Course Design Workbook: A practical guide

Blended Course Design Workbook: A practical guide | Teaching, Learning, and Leadership | Scoop.it
Blended (also called hybrid) classrooms, in which face-to-face interaction is intentionally combined with online activities to aid student learning, are becoming more and more common. By moving content delivery such as lecture to outside-of-class homework using technology tools such as video or lecture capture, more time can be gained for active learning in-class. Moreover, the blended model is proving to be an environment that provides more self-directed, technology-mediated learning experiences for students who will be incorporating technology more and more into their professional lives post-college.
