in the 1950’s, there was an unfortunate turning point in the economy in new Zealand. Countries such as united states, western Europe and japan restricted agricultural imports to new Zealand, and dumped their excess imports to the third markets, so new Zealand had to fund their own farmers.

Women’s fashion became more feminine in the late 1940’s, new fashions were introduced after the war years due to the war giving people more money to spend, which they spent on smarter clothes.

During this time women were insisted to wear a hat and gloves, as well as other accessories for different activities and times of day.
