Influence Isn’t a Guarantee

Influence isn’t a guarantee, but the lack of action is a guarantee of no new results.

Influence isn’t a guarantee, but that doesn’t excuse inaction.

When we don’t act, because we don’t see how it will make any difference, we are operating as a victim; wanting someone else to do something to change our results.

As you begin to live in this world of influence, holding yourself accountable for the role you play (and therefore taking action), you can begin to influence others to do the same.

Stop de-motivating people

Stop de-motivating people | Facilit8Success | Scoop.it

The conditions must be right for people to flourish just as soil must be fertile in order for plants to flourish.  If you salt the earth, nothing will grow...  [T]he question to be asking, then, is not “How can I motivate my staff?” but “How do I need to be so that I don’t demotivate people around me?”  Some of it is related to transforming how the business organises itself, but this is inextricably linked to transforming ourselves: our beliefs and attitudes about human nature and how we relate to people.

Listening with Empathy – Why Does it Matter? | ReadyToManage

Listening with Empathy – Why Does it Matter? | ReadyToManage | Facilit8Success | Scoop.it

This article presents 5 steps that everyone can take to become a more empathetic listener. The word “empathy” comes from the Greek noun empatheia, meaning passion, or empathes, meaning emotional. Empathy can therefore be said to be the act of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and to experience feelings, thoughts, and experience of another. In other words and especially from a listening perspective, rather than considering only your own feelings and thoughts when you talk with someone, to feel true empathy you need to shift your focus of attention strongly toward the other person and genuinely hear not only what they are saying in words, but where they are really coming from.

The Lazy Man’s Guide To Leadership Development

The Lazy Man’s Guide To Leadership Development | Facilit8Success | Scoop.it

I’ve got some great news for you – and some bad news. First – the bad news:

Lazy people don’t make great leaders.

They don’t even make good leaders. Matter of fact, I’m not sure it’s very easy to explain how you can become a leader – but at the risk of appearing lazy myself, I’ll give it a try and list some practices that should be part of any leadership development program.
