36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads

The interest in inquiry-based learning seems to ebb and flow based on–well, it’s not clear why it ever ebbs.

In short, it is a student-centered, Constructivist approach to learning that requires critical thinking, and benefits from technology, collaboration, resourcefulness, and other modern learning skills that never seem to fall out of favor themselves.

Regardless, St Oliver Plunkett Primary School has put together two very useful images that can help you populate your iPad–or classroom of iPads–with apps that support both inquiry-based learning (the second image below), and a more general approach to pedagogy based on Apple’s uber-popular tablet (the top image).

Creative Thinking Exercises - Ask a Different Question ~ Brainzooming

Creative Thinking Exercises - Ask a Different Question ~ Brainzooming | Fabio Padovan | Scoop.it

by Mike Brown

"Talking with a business executive recently about her company’s internal innovation efforts and how Brainzooming could enhance them, she noted a creative thinking session the company held previously. The internal innovation person conducted the entire creative thinking session using just one question: “Wouldn’t it be nice if . . . ?” No matter the situation or opportunity the group was addressing with its creative thinking, the entrée to frame the discussion was always about “nice.”

"If the company were really solely focused on “nice” as a brand aspiration or consumer experience, I suppose you might return to the same prompt several times and not use multiple creative thinking exercises.

"To spend an entire day without moving through multiple creative thinking exercises, however, is neither creatively productive nor creatively fulfilling for participants."

Jim Lerman's insight

Very useful list of alternative words for framing questions.

Quanti Hr sanno fare sviluppo? Cosa serve nel momento della ripresa?

Quanti Hr sanno fare sviluppo? Cosa serve nel momento della ripresa? | Fabio Padovan | Scoop.it

Fabio Padovan's curator insight, October 9, 2013 3:51 PM

Change comes from the heart, an article about the best way to engage that.

AlGonzalezinfo's curator insight, October 14, 2013 8:52 PM

Better leadership better, better results, period. Any manager or executive that feels leadership people skills are fluff, is not a leader.

Wonderful content here from thought leader Kate Nasser.

From the article:

We applaud leaders with strong clear vision. We applaud them if they can communicate it in a way that respects, engages, and influences others vs. browbeating them.

We disengage from leaders with poor leadership people skills no matter how incredible the vision. The vision then slows, fades, or dies altogether.

How to be a Better Designer

How to be a Better Designer | Fabio Padovan | Scoop.it
The job of a designer isn’t an easy one. You must assess unfamiliar situations, achieve insight, and use what you’ve learned to synthesize design solutions. Additionally, you must lead clients through a process that might seem foreign to them.

This guy nails it!

"...designers aren’t supposed to be the star of the show. They are backstage workers whose presence should go unknown in the work they produce. Your politics, voice, and creative tendencies all have to take a backseat to your client’s needs."

Shahana Zubair's curator insight, November 24, 2013 11:33 PM

Every day we designers meet new clients which brings along new challenges , I think a designer should be so flexible in his/ or her way of designing what we should keep in mind is the clients satisfaction if the clients is satisfied  We are satisfied too we can't impose our own ideas on people we are facilitators and we facilitate people for their needs.

Tyler Richendollar's curator insight, February 8, 2014 8:22 PM
