En el marco del OKFestival, organizamos una conversación en torno a « Género y hardware abierto ». Con la ayuda y el apoyo de Kat Braybrooke de la OK Foundation, propusimos contestar a una pregunta básica: ¿son más presentes las mujeres en el campo del Hardware abierto que en los otros campos técnicos? Partiendo de la sensación de que sí, de que las mujeres, si no son más por lo menos son más visibles en el campo del Hardware abierto que en el software libre por ejemplo, propusimos discutir esta pregunta – antes incluso de adelantar respuestas – escuchando a mujeres involucradas en el campo y que refleccionan sobre el concepto de Género.

Recently the Obama administration announced a new pilot program to create an institute for public-private collaboration and innovation in additive manufacturing in Youngstown, Ohio. The new National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute will serve as a platform for collaboration for more than 40 U.S. manufacturing and technology companies, nine research universities, five community colleges, and 11 nonprofit organizations across the Ohio-Pennsylvania-West Virginia “Tech Belt.”

La « troisième révolution industrielle » est une expression popularisée par un récent essai de Jeremy Rifkin. Mais s’il se penche attentivement sur la question de l’énergie, qu’il envisage durable et distribuée, il se montre moins prolixe sur la question de la production.

Or là aussi de profonds bouleversements nous attendent…

 

Je casse une assiette aujourd’hui. Je prends ma voiture pour aller chez Ikea en acheter une autre (construit en Chine). Je casse une assiette demain. Je vais chercher sur Internet le fichier numérique « assiette », puis je demande à mon imprimante 3D de m’en créer une nouvelle sous mes yeux ébahis.

Et là où ça devient encore plus intéressant c’est quand l’imprimante tout comme le fichier sont libres, m’assurant alors que j’aurais une grande variétés de fichiers « assiette » à télécharger et que je pourrais même les modifier à ma guise avant de les imprimer :)
