DRM systems in the digital media world are nothing new and are utilized extensively in the music, movie and video games industries. Now, after applying four years ago, a company has this week obtained a patent for a DRM system that aims to stop future owners of 3D printers from printing whatever they like. The dream of downloading a new pair of sneakers or even a car might already be in jeopardy, before it’s even begun.

Journée d’étude AGCCPF PACA à l’université d’Avignon et des Pays du Vaucluse les 14 et 15 février 2013. La première journée est construite sur un format « conférence« . Elle a pour objectif d’informer les participants sur ces questions inhérentes au FabLab, Hacklab, Médialab et autres espace de réflexion et d’expérimentation qui permettent d’apprendre, de fabriquer ensemble et de partager les savoir-faire. Les FabLabs, ou Laboratoires de Fabrication, sont des lieux regroupant toutes sortes d’outils où il est possible de passer de l’idée à l’objet. Ces ateliers sont ouvert à tous, petits et grands, néophytes et experts, pour expérimenter, apprendre, fabriquer ensemble et partager les savoir- faire. Le concept de FabLab est né à la fin des années 90 au MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), sous la forme d’un cours intitulé « How to make (almost) everything », sous l’impulsion du professeur Neil Gershenfeld.
