The Marketer’s Guide to Pinterest

The Marketer’s Guide to Pinterest | Extreme Social | Scoop.it

Is Pinterest a social media more? That's the question I ask myself every time when a new platform appears on the net. Regarding Pinterest, I think there is actually a reflection to make for all who are active in marketing. This awesome guide will give you some ideas, how you can use it to your advantage. [note Martin Gysler]

HGTV. Nordstrom. West Elm. ModCloth. Those are some of the big name retailers who are using Pinterest to drive significant traffic to their retail websites. In fact, Pinterest has become so popular it is driving more traffic than Google+ to retailers’ sites.

I think it is safe to say that as marketers it’s time to take this social network site seriously. But what exactly is Pinterest? And how do you use it to promote your business or brand?

Well, this guide will help you get started.

What is Pinterest?

40 Social Media Curation Sites and Tools

40 Social Media Curation Sites and Tools | Extreme Social | Scoop.it

Last month I shared 40+ networks that you could consider depending on your niche or interests. As part of my commitment to this community, I shared that I will expand on this list througout 2012. So here is the first addition to that build! The topic- Curation!I thought I would focus on curation because a) I have a favorite site and b) there has been a lot of “press” on Pinterest as a curation tool and as a result I thought the timing was right. However before I list the sites lets talk curation.

What is social media curation?

Today, with the exponential growth of social networks and blogs, it can be overwhelming searching for information on the internet. As a result, the act of filtering, selecting, reviewing and providing commentary with a perspective on an article, or collection of articles, have become increasingly important. Robin- absolutely appreciated the feedback. I did visit all the sites to ensure that they were still in operation however missed some very important details. So thank you so much for providing the clarification needed. :))

Martin you need to do a little of what the article says - add your own perspective! I read the info and thought you had written it until I went to the link.

Hi Carey, I consider scoop.it as a tool to provide interesting information and not really as a curation tool, but, maybe you're right and I should reconsider my opinion about my approach! Thank you for your feedback.

How to Share Content More Efficiently by Integrating Google Reader and Buffer | Extreme Social | Scoop.it
If you subscribe to a lot of blogs and invest time in sharing useful content with your audience this workflow will help you streamline your process.

One of the most powerful dynamics of social media is the democratization of information. The more you can read, learn and share, the more value you should be able to extract from various digital channels.

Tapping into Web 2.0 to stay educated and informed is a labour intensive proposition. The tools are free but your time comes at a cost, so the more efficiently you can mange the process the better. If you subscribe to a lot of blogs (and other RSS feeds) and invest time in sharing useful content with your audience this workflow will help you streamline the process.

Before getting started there is one important caveat I need to mention. This is a broadcast tactic that will help you become more efficient at scheduling and sharing information. It’s one small piece of digital communication puzzle. To get the most out of social media you need to make connections and build relationships by engaging in real time. Enough said, let’s proceed.

I saw an article like this from Christopher Penn over the summer, he uses his iPad and flipboard to do this. But one of the things I've noticed is that I don't systemmatically read blogs as much as I did a few years back. Now, I look for particular Twitter lists, honed keywords, and specific sources. I need to get my discipline back around this ...
