Faster printing could see the technology move from research labs to industry.
katz kiely's insight:

The 3d printing industry is evolving at an astonishing rate. Karlstuhe has developed a super speed microprinter that will hit the marketplace very soon.

Printing microstructures with features a few hundred nanometers in size could be useful for making microneedles for painless shots (you know the ones in the sci fi movies), gecko adhesives ( yup, that's what I said) and scaffolds for cells and tissues. Some might say this is even more interesting that 3d printed iphone cases ;)

LucaVanin - It can have the same connotation of untruth in the west; just depends on context (and who's paying!) In Entertainment, of course, no one worries about superficial truth. Even (especially?) in Reality TV. What matters is the universal truth that stories can deliver. That is the real litmus test of truth.

Transmedia Storytelling Comes Alive With Secret Cinema
katz kiely's insight:

Secret Cinema audiences are told what clothes to wear, and taken through an immersive experience to get them in the mood for The Shawshank Redemption. Brilliant Idea.I was part of a collective that delivered an immersive experience called "Incarceration" in "97 in a disused magistrates court where a limited audience were greeted by Prison Wardens, before the doors were small shut, locked and they were cajolled through a series of interactive installations. There is nothing better than catching an audience off guard and taking them to the edge of thier comfort zone ;)

Can Augmented Reality Supermarkets Revitalize Vacant Urban Lots? — The Pop-Up City

Can Augmented Reality Supermarkets Revitalize Vacant Urban Lots? — The Pop-Up City | Exploded Stories | Scoop.it
Yihaodian, China’s biggest e-commerce site, is planning to launch 1,000 virtual stores all around the country.
katz kiely's insight:

Chinese company launching 13,000 1,200 m2 virtual supermarkets, each stocking 1,000 products, in empty spaces across China, This seems nonsensical in some ways. Do we really need to replicate the phsycial supermarket experience? Will this be more successful in Asia than Europe? Will it make more sense when wearables hit the market? Interesting trend though
