Chose a floor plan to draw to scale and answer the following questions. 

 

What is the area of each room and the total area of the house?

 

Due to the high demand of the family, they are wanting to build another bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin with a minimum area of 4.5 square meters. You cannot shift external doors or windows, but can move internal walls. Where can you design the bathroom so that it takes up the least amount of room, but is functional? Sketch this design including the position of elements in the bathroom, scan and upload your design to your blog.

All buildings begin with a floor plan, which provides an image of what the most structural elements of the rooms will be before you begin construction. By utilizing known measurements of the rooms and furnishings, you can make sure all of the large pieces of furniture can fit, without blocking access. 

 

Become familiar with the symbols and drawings provided through answering the questions as knowing what the symbols mean is essential for your next project.
