If you want to make something new, start with understanding. Understanding what's already present, and understanding the opportunities in what's not. Most of all, understanding how it all fits together.

Search engine optimization has not been dependent on a minimal number of factors for a long time now, such as number of times a keyword appeared on a page, and it continues to become a more complex web of on and off-page factors every month.
One of the more recent factors that has had an impact on search ranking is social media.
Sheryl Sandberg, the No. 2 executive at Facebook, offers a provocative take on why women are so underrepresented in leadership positions.
Janice Tomich's insight:
Sandberb says, "Women who don’t aggressively pursue opportunities" and I agree with her in regard to public speaking. Women often hang back and when I ask them why they tell me they aren't prepared or don't know enough. Funny though, their male counterparts, who have the same knowledge and experience base will jump right in and volunteer for public speaking opportunities.
My business partner recently brought to my attention a video of Jane Goodall speaking about the power of female characteristics (posted below). I think Jane’s message is pivotal for women:
What I have been saddened by very often is that some of the women who’ve been leaders in the women’s movement…they tried to get out there into these traditionally male jobs by being more male than the males. And that’s unfortunate, really unfortunate. I can see why it happened, but I think the qualities women can bring into our society, you know…we are by nature, probably instinctively, more nurturing, compassionate, we’re good at finding solutions that don’t involve physical power … So if we can take those out into society it should be making a better world.
There are leaders who engage naturally with people, and leaders who are simply uncomfortable with engagement at a human level. The former have an advantage over the latter, clearly. Engaged leaders work with employees; those who shun engagement have employees who work for them, not necessarily with them. It’s a distinction with a difference.
