Those touchy-feely relationships with salespeople are giving way to researching choosing and purchasing products over the Web. Digital marketers are claiming the customer relationship, including the sales conversion, and that will cost an estimated one million B2B sales jobs.

Interesting discussion of the death of the b2b salesman. Yes, there are signs this is going to happen sometime in the future but more importantly, the point I see many missing is that sales involves everyone.  It's is no longer a sales role only, nor will it be marketing's role only, we have to embrace a very proactive and holistic point of view that says everyone within a company has a sales role as part of his/her duties. Since we are becoming more relationship based, every customer facing role should be part of sales, support roles behind the scenes make the other roles becoming more efficient therefore they have an indirect sales role.  Focus on selling the company brand not just the products or services.

I am always amazed at the employee engagement stats regardless of who reports them. I am frustrated because so many businesses claim it is a major priority but only 25% have a plan in place. I won't even go into the quality of those plans. Why do we keep ignoring this need?

If you're not taking a lunch break, your creativity is probably suffering. This might seem obvious, but now there's research to back it up. And it doesn't even matter what you eat, or if you eat at all; what's important is that you physically step away from your workspace to recharge.

I have advocated this for years but so many are fearful of missing that call, text or IM. The key is that the break allows you to breath and relax.  That's what is important. I also suggest taking one 5 minute break each hour, just stand up and walk around.
