Information security isn't a luxury these days. It's a necessity. Companies that don't (or won't) pay security the attention it deserves risk joining a list that includes the likes of Target and Home Depot. It's time to hire a CISO and take security seriously.

I agree with the concept of increased attention on security, I also question the need to have another C-Level position created.  This seems to discourage the collaboration that is necessary for successful growth by creating another silo.
