If history is any indication, we know that the 2014 World Cup will be one of the biggest sporting events of the year. It’ll be big for all soccer fans as they cheer for their respective teams. But it also provides an opportunity for companies.

This Lamp Creates A Thunderstorm In Your Living Room. And It's Really, Really Cool.

They say every dark cloud has a silver lining and these lamps will light your room up with proof. The imitation clouds produce the effect of a thunderstorm without having to actually deal with the crummy weather.

Called simply “The Cloud” by its creators over at the Richard Clarkson Studio, the interactive lamp and speaker system recreate the sounds and sights of a thundercloud while you stay dry. Using motion detectors, the cloud detects your presence and creates a special light show based on your movement. You can also sync the speakers with Bluetooth to enjoy some tunes while you watch.

How do you spend your time when you travel by Train? Try this for Hilarious Results. | Evrystry (because EVERY STORY matters) | Scoop.it
Most of us listen to music, read a book or stare out the window when we travel by train. Have you ever tried doing something different? Illustrator and blogger October Jones decided to spend his time in an unusual and creative manner. He decided to draw new heads for his fellow commuters. Jones, who is the guy behind the amusing and popular “Texts From Dog” Tumblr blog (and book), likes to draw cartoon faces on sticky notes and he matches them up with the bodies of the people on the train with him. The expressions on the faces of the cartoon heads makes it all the more hilarious.

This Guy Found a Normal Tree stump in his Yard. What He did with It Blew Me Away. | Evrystry (because EVERY STORY matters) | Scoop.it
When one family was clearing out their property of dead trees, they came across a stump that look perfect for a wood carving. Their son was excited to share the project online. They hired Steve Kenzora, who was an accomplished wood carver and has talent you just won’t believe. Their only request?

“No men! All these sculptures are always old men or warriors or wizards, I want a woman, or animal.”

So, the artist obliged… and created an epic, mythical scene. (Maybe it wasn’t what the mother was hoping for, but we absolutely love it.)

Artist Creates His Own Reality With Just A Pencil And A Piece Of Paper. This Will Make You Smile!

Artist Creates His Own Reality With Just A Pencil And A Piece Of Paper. This Will Make You Smile! | Evrystry (because EVERY STORY matters) | Scoop.it
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could change the reality of a moment using just a pen and a piece of paper? This is exactly what Ben Heine does. He is a young visual artist from Ivory Coast. His art merges drawing and photography, taking down all the boundaries between reality and imagination.

The name of the project is “Pencil vs Camera”, and this work is characterized by a strong sense of irony, with the artist overlapping ironical sketches to a real everyday scene, two worlds that are apparently opposed to each other but cohesist perfectly in Ben Heine’s creations.

Perhaps the pesticide business? Nope. As the WSJ’s Jacob Bunge reports:

Every now and then we see on the news that a dangerous wild animal escaped from a natural park.

This time a huge black bear was seen wandering into an urban area in Alligator Point, Florida.
When wildlife officers tried to tranquillize the bear with a dart he went into panic, running towards the ocean.

The consequences would have been tragic for the bear, and right when the situation was out of control, with the bear starting to drown, a brave man named Adam Warwick, a biologist of the Wildlife Commission ran into the ocean to save the huge animal.

Everybody was shocked by Adam’s heroic act, but the biologist incredibly managed to save the bear.
Below you can see the impressive images of Adam saving this huge 375-pound black bear from drowning. I have no words to describe this man’s incredible courage and love for animals.

Next Time You See A Homeless Person With A Dog, Just Remember This.. | Evrystry (because EVERY STORY matters) | Scoop.it
When you see a homeless person and their pet, don’t judge. It’s not an irresponsible choice, like many people believe.

What you’re seeing is heartwarming love and companionship. Photographer Norah Levine and producer Gabrielle Amster worked together to show the world the bond that homeless people have with their pets.

These people on the streets rely on their pets for companionship, protection, and for love. The selfless love that the project Lifelines highlights is so moving to see. Take a look for yourself.

Seeing the conditions that some stray dogs have the live in can break your heart, especially if you’re an animal lover. When I saw what this two-legged stray had to do on the streets in China, it brought tears to my eyes. The stray was named Si Bao by a owner who later abandoned her. Then, after being left by her owner to fend for herself on the streets, she faced tragedy.

When you see what they do in this coffee shop in Japan, you'll want to go there. Now! | Evrystry (because EVERY STORY matters) | Scoop.it
As often happens, some of the weirdest ideas and inventions come from Japan (we’ve talked about it before in our crazy Japanese inventions post).

This time we are going to show you a new trend that will probably make you want to visit Japan as soon as possible: lately many animal themed coffee shops have opened in Japan’s biggest cities, but the one that stands from the crowd is this Owl Cafe that recently opened in Tsukishima, Tokyo, where you have the opportunity to have your coffee, tea or anything else while interacting with these beautiful animals.

Trust me, i didn’t know owls could be that cute!
