I admire seeing and talking to people give their best efforts handing over their experiences through seminars, workshops and now in social medias. Yes, in tough times our character is tested and evaluated after. There may be tips, guide or suggestions on how you will perk it up or do it in practice. No matter how your parents raised, guided and trained you, it will always be your decision and actions speak for yourself.

This article breaks the myths. Many people believe the multitasking it a skill of which they are proud. It's not! Let's listen the studies.

Antonio Ormachea's curator insight, April 1, 12:32 PM

As a business owner you will always have a lot on your plate, and if you are like most business owners, you will pride yourself on your ability to multitask in order to get everything done. Research has long shown that multitasking is actually a very inefficient way in which to operate, yet business owners tend to take little notice of such research findings. Perhaps, if you were conscious of what multitasking is doing to your brain, you might review your modus operandi, and focus on monotasking instead. This article should be a wake up call for every business owner who sees multitasking as a virtue.

The New Formula for Progress in the Business World

The New Formula for Progress in the Business World | Evidence Based Essays | Scoop.it

Einstein's famous theory of relativity (E=MC2) celebrates its 110th anniversary this year. This elegant formula helped us understand how the world works and has impacted scientists and philosophers alike.

The business world has its own formulas for success. Hard work dedication = results. Power = money influence. Big > Small. Fast > Slow. Fancy degree time = corner office.

The thing is, the world has changed. The old rules of business no longer carry the day as we cope with fist-fighting competition, mind-numbing speed, and exponential complexity. Add in macro trends such as global markets, digitization, cloud computing, millennial workforce shifts, mobile technology, and geopolitical turmoil, and you're wrestling a whole new beast. One that can't be conquered with some long-expired formula.

If you're not actively prioritizing learning, you may be unknowingly falling behind. Near-term competitive advantages come and go, but the learning organization wins in the long run. Push yourself and your team to learn more and learn fast. Set learning objectives. Recap and share lessons learned. Experiment, measure, refine.

SENAME Interactive's curator insight, September 16, 2015 12:10 AM

Learning is an endless process. You will achieve results as much as your input.

15 Critical Habits of Mentally Strong People

15 Critical Habits of Mentally Strong People | Evidence Based Essays | Scoop.it

We all reach critical points in our lives where our mental toughness is tested. It might be a toxic friend or colleague, a dead-end job, or a struggling relationship.

Whatever the challenge, you have to be strong, see things through a new lens, and take decisive action if you want to move through it successfully.

It sounds easy. We all want good friends, good jobs, and good relationships.

But it isn’t.

The key point for me "It is bad for management and bad for the company as a whole. When HR sees itself as manager, mediator, and nurturer, it further separates managers from their employees and reinforces a results-versus-people dichotomy."

The term HR is redundant. In fact I don't believe it was ever appropriate. What we need is resources for humans and those in the trenches with people every day, if they're any good, welcome such resources.

The Importance of Teacher Insight in Design of Digital Instructional Tools

The Importance of Teacher Insight in Design of Digital Instructional Tools | Evidence Based Essays | Scoop.it
Good teachers work to create personalized experiences for students that motivate them and target their specific learning needs. But teachers can’t do it alone. Digital content and tools that support personalized learning create new kinds of student data that help teachers tailor instruction specifically to students’ needs and interests, and get rapid insight into their learning progress. And as we celebrate Digital Learning Day, what better time to highlight the need for more effective digital instructional tools?

There’s no replacement for the powerful connection between teacher and student, but digital instructional tools provide teachers with valuable information and resources to meet individual needs and track student progress.  Teachers are constantly trying to analyze how their students are doing based on many data sources, and new tools that organize data well and provide actionable insights into what individual students need are becoming available.

These practices are true for small businesses, and they are also true in our schools.  A principal must be deliberate in their daily practices in order to retain their best employees.  Quality teachers are critical to school success.  Our high needs schools, in particular, depend on high quality teachers to overcome the external factors students bring to school. Principals in these schools must leverage best practices to retain their best teachers and other staff!

7 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Start Getting Stuff Done

7 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Start Getting Stuff Done | Evidence Based Essays | Scoop.it

If you're like many of my clients prior to them seeing me, you might have a hard time getting started with projects and completing tasks. Maybe you do everything but what you need to be doing. Perhaps you watch TV instead of cleaning your house. You socialize instead of finishing a work project, or surf the Internet instead of writing that business plan you've been meaning to do for the longest time.

You essentially avoid that which you deem to be uncomfortable. It’s an adaptive response to stress, fear, and anxiety. The problem with this tactic is, by putting off an important task, it ultimately leads to more stress, greater fear, more anxiety — and of course not completing the task.

This procrastination can lead to feelings of guilt, inadequacy, and depression — all of which can kill motivation and creativity and perpetuate the unproductive cycle. Poor time management, feeling overwhelmed, unrealistic standards, or just plain laziness are a few possible reasons for procrastination.

The Only Two Rules You Need To Know To Be Successful In Work And Life

The Only Two Rules You Need To Know To Be Successful In Work And Life | Evidence Based Essays | Scoop.it

There are three skills you need to be financially successful: making money, keeping money, growing money. James Altucher is mostly only good at making money.

"I’ve had several instances where I’ve started a business, sold it, made a lot of money, and then basically lost everything I made, whether it was $50 million or $5 million or whatever," he tells Fast Company. "I always have a tendency to lose everything I made."

There are some simple rules, like drink coffee first thing in the morning and 20 minutes before you write so that it "sets your brain on fire, makes you go to the bathroom, cleans your body out before you set your heart on fire." Then, there’s his 30% rule, which basically says that everyone should cut or rewrite at least 30% of their masterpiece after they think they’ve finished it.
