Experian Marketing Services study finds that people online in the United States spend 27% (or 27 minutes in an hour) of their time on social networking and forums. This is comparable to online users in the United Kingdom and Australia. Furthermore for U.S. users, 16% of online time is on social networks and forums, 9% on entertainment sites and 5% shopping.


Analyzing browsing data for U.S. mobile users found the following with regard to percentages of time spent:

Email: 23%

Social Networking: 15%

Entertainment: 13%

Shopping: 11%

Travel: 9%
