The Evolving Communal Mind by Martha Love | The Write Room Blog | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it

The Evolving Communal Mind by Martha Love | We may hear some people complain that our propensity toward using social networking and cell phones, particularly when we are in a public or social situation, are signs that we modern humans are a bunch of disassociated people who don’t know how to sit in the same room together and relate to each other anymore.

Could our need to socially connect be motivating us to evolve toward developing telepathy as a species?

Living the Personal Myth

Living the Personal Myth | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it

Living the Personal Myth was written by Zardoa Silverstar of the Silver Elves. It is a unique narrative about a psychological study of the magic of living one's personal myth, in effect, making one's dream and vision of one's self come true by living it. It is a personal guide to becoming one's true s'elf as one inwardly knows one's s'elf to be. What makes this book particularly interesting is that the author considers himself to be an elf, yet he has an astute scientific mind that he uses to psychologically examine his identification with the otherkin world. .

Martha Love's insight:

Very intriguing book on personal myth as the personality of the unconscious. Anyone interested in a fresh view in depth psychology will love this book.

Increase your Intuition By Learning the Difference Between Emotional Feelings and Gut Feelings

Increase your Intuition By Learning the Difference Between Emotional Feelings and Gut Feelings | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it
Since the publication in 2011 of my colleague and co-author Robert Sterling’s and my book “What’s Behind Your Belly Button?” on the intelligence of gut feeling responses, I have been combing the web
Martha Love's insight:

"Dr. Daniel Goleman was the first to popularize the understanding in psychology that our feelings and thinking are different and that it is important to learn the difference, to increase Emotional Intelligence, which he linked to success and healthy living. Up until Goleman's work, we had the theories of Type of Dr. Carl Jung that pointed to the difference in Thinking (logic) and Feeling (value) as functions, and, working off that, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Although quite valuable, Jung's theories did not make a clear distinction showing that feelings are in the body and logic in the head brain."

Social: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Connect | KurzweilAI

Social: Why Our Brains Are Wired to Connect | KurzweilAI | Everything is Psychology | Scoop.it

n Social, renowned psychologist Matthew Lieberman explores groundbreaking research in social neuroscience revealing that our need to connect with other people is even more fundamental, more basic, than our need for food or shelter.  Because of this, our brain uses its spare time to learn about the social world – other people and our relation to them. It is believed that we must commit 10,000 hours to master a skill.  According to Lieberman, each of us has spent 10,000 hours learning to make sense of people and groups by the time we are ten.

Social argues that our need to reach out to and connect with others is a primary driver behind our behavior.

A very new interesting book on how our brains are as wired to connect as they are wired to seek food and shelter...further proof that the social constructivists were onto something, and further evidence that the blended learning world is going to have to ensure that connection is a deep part of what students get to do when they are learning online: for most students, solitary computer work is not going to feel transformational.
