Teachers Guide to Dyslexia

Teachers Guide to Dyslexia | Everything iPads | Scoop.it

What is Dyslexia ?
Dyslexia is a specific type of language-based disability that is caused by a defect of some sort in the way the brain processes graphic symbols. Dyslexic people experience severe difficulties with reading, writing, listening and spelling. However, dyslexia is only a language related disorder and does not arise from any a developmental disability or physical limitation.

Ruby Rennie Panter's curator insight, February 17, 4:17 AM

I'm interested in the relationship between dyslexia and language learning. I'd also really like to know if languages which use a different kind of script (not roman) can cause difficulties? Do you get Chinese dyslexia?

Why AppleTV & iPad beats Interactive Whiteboard….every time. | Everything iPads | Scoop.it

Lets compare these two devices in terms of function, cost, and extras. I will look at what the devices do similarily, how much the average cost is for the devices, and what other advantages one tool might have over the other, and then you decide!

Leanna K Johnson's curator insight, January 21, 9:14 AM

I agree on all counts. We are using Apple TV aon the HS level and it's faster connectivity with more functionality.

Niels Jakob Pasgaard's comment, January 22, 2:17 AM
I agree, that the iPad/AppleTV combination is better than the IWB. However, I don’t think any of them are of great value when it comes to the learning outcome.

Give each student the opportunity to bring their own device instead.
Leanna K Johnson's comment, January 22, 10:39 AM
Niels, I also allow students to use their own devices or incorporate them into our activities. But they must be able to adapt themselves. The sharing of this idea is for the purpose of comparative outcomes.
