Will bad PR lead Uber to destruction?

Will bad PR lead Uber to destruction? | Everything about PR | Scoop.it

Could bad PR pose an existential threat to one of tech's highest-flying companies?

If Lyft's fortunes are any indication, Uber might have reason to worry.

While Uber has been dealing with bad headline after bad headline, Lyft has been courting riders and polishing its image. For example, when Uber was facing a #DeleteUber campaign over CEO Kalanick's participation in a business advisory council for US President Donald Trump, Lyft was responding to Trump's temporary travel ban targeting seven Muslim countries by announcing that it would be donating $1m to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Is Lyft's cleaner image winning over consumers?According to Bloomberg, Lyft's ridership and bookings "surged" in the first quarter of the year and according to fundraising documents Bloomberg obtained, the company is beating its internal targets. The documents revealed that Lyft's gross bookings in Q1 grew to $800m, more than double what they were in Q1 2016, and total ridership in February was 137% higher than February 2016....

Typography Inspiration for the Modern Web · Typewolf

Typography Inspiration for the Modern Web · Typewolf | Everything about PR | Scoop.it

I launched Typewolf as a side project in June of 2013. Working as a designer, I was always frustrated by the lack of good resources for choosing fonts for design projects. Seeing type samples set in “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” isn’t very useful when it comes to web design—seeing how real type performs on actual websites is much more helpful.

I’ve also noticed that other typography sites tend to be written from a type designer’s perspective rather than from the perspective of someone who actually uses type in their day-to-day work. I’ve been a designer for 15 years, so everything on Typewolf is approached from a designer’s perspective....

Kathryn Chamberlain's curator insight, January 24, 7:39 AM

This article is excellent for professionals involved in content creation who already know what audience they are targeting but are having difficulty thinking of new ideas as it offers insightful ways to brainstorm new topics. Specifically, content writers, content marketers or digital strategist might find this article particularly relevant. I found the advice to write about the marketers personal life with regards to the topic particularly insightful. However, I believe these social media tips could be applied to the recruitment side of the company.  Individuals that are already reading a company blog, or content that you are developing are clearly interested and/or passionate about your company which are characteristics that might embody the ideal employee. Allowing and encouraging employees to write about their personal experience with the company and industry allows for a significant amount of transparency. This kind of social media authenticity really creates a significant advantage in the recruitment world. It allows potential customers and potential employees to connect the company on a more personal level. Therefore, I would recommend that HR professionals also take a look at this article and continue to leverage social media for recruitment.

I've heard some people saying that FaceBook Live is stealing viewers from YouTube. WHAT? While Facebook Live is a great addition to the platform Googles playground is so much bigger. With Google having the larger audience YouTube gets a tremendous boost simply because YouTube videos will always show up in Google searches. Furthermore, if you are searching for a how to video, I don't think it is very practical to be waiting for a Facebook Live Stream.
