The FTTH Council Europe organised a very successful workshop on financing FTTH networks on 6 November 2012 in Brussels. More than 40 high-level attendees from financing institutions, parliaments, European Commission and industry discussed possible models and scenarios to finance an accelerated fibre roll-out in Europe.
There was common agreement that financing FTTH networks will be one of the key success factors to accelerate the roll-out of fibre access networks in Europe. The presentations reviewed the financing instruments of telecoms infrastructures and analysts from Ventura Team and Portland Advisers proposed a new approach for the industry and policy makers in funding Europe’s fibre transition. A very lively panel discussion between financial institutions, banks, infrastructure funds, operators and members of the European Commission concluded this successful event.
