TripAdvisor Expands Subscription Business Into Restaurants | eTourism Trends and News | Scoop.it
While investors and observers are rightfully focused on how TripAdvisor’s transition to a hotel booking site will work out, the company has some meaningful hedges in the form of vacation rentals, tours and activities, and restaurants. Google's Travel Search Dilemma — Digital Marketing News This Week

There’s no question that the search bar continues to be one of the most important entry points for marketers hoping to get the attention of travel customers. But despite its best efforts, Google can’t seem to shake continued concerns that it is favoring its own content in search results, putting other marketers at a disadvantage.

Last August, Jeremy Stoppelman, the CEO of local search company Yelp, accused the search giant of burying his company’s reviews in mobile search results. TripAdvisor CEO Stephen Kaufer has also been critical of Google in the past, claiming his firm’s reviews are also getting listed beneath search results for Google-owned Zagat.

eTourism: The click is dead – all channels lead to mobile - Amadeus North America

Airlines, hotels, tour operators and rail providers, among other segments of the travel industry, are focusing on having the right presence across multiple channels. More importantly, they are looking at how they can deliver a consistent and seamless user experience across their websites and mobile apps so that travelers can view, search and book their trips seamlessly, even when those steps are performed on various devices. Clearly a responsive designed, mobile optimized website is the pre-requisite mechanism to achieve this consistency. Further, given the majority of search queries now originate via mobile, the likes of Google will penalize brands which do not have this in place.
