Comment parler d’E-tourisme sans mentionner la E-distribution tant le touristonaute est aujourd’hui non seulement familiariser mais également en demande de réservation en ligne. Le débat ne porte donc plus sur l’expression du besoin mais bien plus sur l’optimisation de la vente en directe c’est-à-dire à partir de son propre site web et au contrôle de la vente par le biais d’intermédiaires à savoir bien souvent les fameuses agences de voyage en ligne au potentiel commerciale sans limites…

Number of sites leisure travelers visit before booking drops by 88%

The latest research by Fuel Travel and Flip.to shows that, on average, leisure travelers are only visiting 4.4 unique sites before booking. This is a massive decline from the past where research suggested upwards of 38 sites (based on a 2015 Expedia Media Solutions study).

A decade and a half ago, when the first set of OTAs (Online Travel Aggregators/Agents) were born, travel planners were suddenly empowered with tools that enabled them to do all kinds of hotel and flight bookings without going to a traditional travel agent, while still being able to secure the best deal via comparison shopping. After a few years however, this gave birth to a unique problem of having to search in multiple OTAs to find the best offer since a deal may be found in one aggregator but not necessarily all others. It became difficult, especially for deal hunters – to find the best deal available.

Travel comparison site Trivago emerged with strong 2016 numbers as Expedia reported its final quarter and full-year 2016 results.
The Germany-based service, which completed its IPO in December, finished the quarter 65% up on the same period in 2015. Trivago had reported a revenue increase of 57% in Q3.

Le Big Data a été le sujet de nombreuses discussions, conférences et prises de parole au cours de ces dernières années. Personne n’a pu passer à côté de cette tendance qui consiste grossièrement à récolter et analyser des volumes importants de données structurées et non structurées. Selon Umanis, 2016 aura été l’année de la maturité des entreprises sur les sujets liés au Big Data et à la Data Science. Il faut tout de même préciser que seuls 111 participants ont participé à l’enquête. Elles ne sont plus que 11% à le considérer comme un sujet prématuré et elle sont 70% à se déclarer prêtes à mettre en pratique ces technologies. Il faut tout de même relativiser : « La maturité n’est pas synonyme de solution technologique claire », explique l’étude.

Hotel guests are changing but hoteliers not keeping up with their IT needs - WIT

The year 2020 will see a new breed of highly sophisticated and ‘digital native’ hotel guests who will be better informed, seek unique experiences, have higher expectations and also expect recognition.

However, while hoteliers anticipate such future guests their plans for industry technology remain stuck in the early 2000s.

This is the ‘startling research finding’ from ‘The Hotel Industry in 2020’ carried out by professor at ESSEC Business School Peter O’Connor, IDeaS Revenue Solutions, Revinate and SiteMinder.

Das neue Jahr begann ja mal wieder mit einem echten Aufreger: Das Romantik Seehotel Jägerhof auf der Turracher Höhe in Österreich wurde bereits zum vierten Mal von einem Hacker erpresst. Erst nach Zahlung von Bitcoins im Wert von rund 1.500 Euro wurde das zuvor verschlüsselte Kassen-, Reservierungs- und Schlüsselsystem wieder freigegeben. Solche Hackerangriffe sind in der Hotellerie an der Tagesordnung.
