A Dismissal Raises Questions About Objectivity on Food Policy

A Dismissal Raises Questions About Objectivity on Food Policy | Ethics of eating | Scoop.it
A committee of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics dismissed a member whose objectivity on genetically modified food was questioned, but she also questioned others’ objectivity.
Andrew Chignell's insight:

This isn't surprising anymore: she was "removed for pointing out that two of [the Academy's board] members had ties to Monsanto."

What's surprising is that the Academy's policy openly states: "Conflict of interest will not eliminate a candidate for an eligible appointment."

How can this be?  Does "Nutrition" really aspire to be one of the sciences, or is it content to be an advertising tool for the very industry it is supposed to evaluate?
