After reading this article I learned the hard part of being a sports agent. This article provided information regarding the multiple different 'deals' sport agent Steve Weinberg had for his athlete, Emmanuel Sanders. However, it was a negative example for how a sports agent is to negotiate deals for his/her athlete. It was education in the sense that agents are supposed make clear and paper written deals for their athlete or else they would in the 'worst situation'. This means that sport agents accept deals or trades verbally but actually there was nothing written down or signed, thus there 'was no handshake' or 'no agreements'. Moreover, this article would help me within the sport management industry since it was stated in the article what sort of consequences an agent/athlete could get (compensations) if they break a deal, I realize that to pursue in a career in professional sports agency, one must always only make promise with one team and not be greedy and make multiple promises and in the end lose all the opportunities. Thus in that case, the athlete would be the one who suffers the most
