The FBI wants a backdoor only it can use – but wanting it doesn’t make it possible

Much like climate change denialists, politicians continue to debate encryption – ignoring the consensus of experts that it must not be compromised

It seems a lot of people do not know the history of cryptography also. But to the real point of cryptography & steganography and security. First off the FBI had the metadata up to 4 days before the event. They still used the case as a cherry picked case for a back door with other cases waiting in line if the FBI gets it's way. Not only that the telecoms could fill in the gap of metadata for the 4 days in question with a simple request. The 2 phones they had incriminating evidence on they destroyed & the I-phone in question was a work phone left behind. I.E. a low probability it has any good intel on it at all. Also as they showed they linked the social networks they posted to or used. So they already had better data points. Now to one of the big kickers of it all. If the FBI gets a backdoor to everything and police also. That just means you can't trust American security along with china and Russia and so on. The number of people who have access to a tool like that would lead to a leak of the toolset to criminals or governments or hackers in general. Even if apple kept the key's. It would be a huge target for some people to try to get. Yes there is a irony to cryptography being a security measure & putting back doors in that undermines that security. Not to get into the coast of development the FBI wants for free. When they pay a lot of other hackers to do less. Now for a kicker to what the FBI did. They not only cherry picked the case for a backdoor. They also pulled off a psyop of a type to influence people. Multiple articles on needing a back door and at least 3 vectors they used if not more for reasons why they need a back door all with in short time of press releases. From San Bernardino to the 12 cases right behind it to the claim of not being able to be effective for intel gathering and so on. Then you also have the places wanting to ban encryption on phones or other devices. That's really one of the worst. It's not only repressing a type of knowledge, but making people less secure in general instead of safer. The FBI also screwed up in resetting the Icloud account. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3040036/security/fbi-director-admits-mistake-was-made-with-san-bernadino-icloud-reset.html

Robots in Education: What’s Here and What’s Coming

Robots in Education: What’s Here and What’s Coming | Ethical Issues In Technology | Scoop.it
As with so many types of tech, how useful (and potentially harmful) robots can be to education will have more to do with how educators and students choose to use them than with the technology itself. We may not be on the cusp of having robot teachers like in the Jetsons, but robots have already made their mark in education and will continue to do so.
