A huge US navy ship is piloting itself around the sea – but hackers might be able to take control of it, experts have warned.

The Pentagon has shown off the new ship, called Sea Hunter, which is the biggest unmanned surface vessel ever made. The 132-foot ship can guide itself up to 10,000 nautical miles, and will be used to find submarines and mines.

But experts have warned that without humans to drive it, the ship could be hacked and forced to go rogue.

I recently stopped hanging up on cold callers. Instead I started engaging them in conversation. This sometimes takes me in delightful directions. Like the Bangalorean man I spoke to recently who, while agreeing his call was indeed a scam, assured me it was a very high quality scam. Who could be angry at a young man with such pride in his work? Usually, though, I end up in a flaming row with the caller, over where and how they got my data.

Brazil has banned WhatsApp from the country in an attempt to get access to users’ data.

The company and country are engaged in an ongoing fight over whether Brazilian officials should be able to read the messages of users of the service. Brazil has argued that it is important for security, but WhatsApp says that it is impossible to share the data, which is fully encrypted and therefore can only be read by the sender and recipient.
