Overconsumption of clothing a “global phenomenon”

It is stated in the passage that these overconsumption is caused by compulsive shoppers overspend on clothes and this feeling of excitement turns to guilt within a day. While no doubt that this is a reason of over consumption of clothes phenomenon, however there might be another reason where fast fashion is concerned. With the increase in the popularity of fast fashion, the tradition of introducing new fashion lines on a seasonal basis is been challenged, sometimes, fashion retailers introduce new products multiple times a single week. This might have resulted in more people overspend when they are trying to chase the fashion trend. Fast fashion, in my opinion, also made the fashion industry fickle and superficial than ever before. It is quite normal to find lovers of the classical styles of clothes that was showed in old movies even in today’s world, however this is not happening anymore because of the fast fashion.

Apparel Data Directory

The directory shows which organizations are generating, or will be
generating, public information related to labor rights in the apparel
industry. The impetus behind the directory came from a meeting that ICAR
and C&A Foundation jointly hosted in October 2016, which was attended by
data generating, gathering, and policy advocacy organizations. During this
meeting, participants agreed that having a map of available data on labor
rights in the apparel industry would help to facilitate collaboration,
identify gaps in available information, and ensure that the data being
produced is useful for policy advocacy organizations.
