Benjamin Soussan's curator insight, April 27, 6:30 PM

Connected devices and wearables are among the hottest topics so far this year, and especially with specific economic sectors such as digital health.

DIGITAL HEALTH
We won't discuss the recent release of Researchkit from Apple, which will be a game changer for the fledgling digital health market, and will definitely hurt competition more significantly than the Healthkit. There are several critics of wearables : like a lack of accuracy in data collected and a failure to comply with medical standards. But probably the biggest issue about health data collected through wearables or mobile applications remains the uncertainty surrounding data confidentiality and ultimate use.

Though medical connected devices are still in their infancy (thermometer/ stethoscope), such devices open new perspectives for medical treatments and remote observance by patients. They challenge the medical world in putting individuals right back into the driver's seat. Besides, they offer new capabilities in terms of mobile healthcare services, and they represent a catalyst for change in healthcare, especially in the context of a dramatic increase in chronic diseases, an aging world population, and financial resources available shrinking.

So despite the increase in wearables available to average consumers, the real question is : I have bought my activity tracker, and so what?

Such devices without a real innovation of use to support them, are just pieces of plastic. Indeed, the real value in connected devices such as wearables lies in the innovative services, which can be offered to consumers (patients or not)...and the possibilities are limitless.

And it seems that health oriented wearables will be gradually integrated into application systems, also integrated into healthcare digitalization.

Completely agree with the notion of Predictive-First. If we can get to a point where we're in an Amazon-like state, our B2B marketing efforts will be so damn efficient. Then add to that a continually fresh source of data, and you're in a state of pure optimization.

What two components are necessary for good assessments? This post states:

1. Activity or Performance

2. Feedback Criteria

Using Bloom's Revised Taxonomy the infographic looks at each level of Bloom's and provides a short explanation of the focus as well as possible assessment activities AND grading and feedback criteria.
The image (above) show the ''higher levels of active active thinking." Click through to the post to see the full infographic and more information.
