L'article souligne que même si économiquement, tous les pays de l'Union Européenne devraient favoriser des  traités avec le Royaume-Uni malgré le Brexit, les enjeux politiques prendront le pas sur les raisons économiques. L'un des exemples pris est celui de la France : la classe politique française n'a aucun intérêt à faire du Brexit une réussite économique parce que cela la desservira aux présidentielles de 2017 en renforçant le programme du Front National.
