The high in Madrid this time of year ranges from 45-55 degrees. The low ranges from 30-40 degrees. From saturday to tuesday it is supposed to be mostly sunny. The weather in Madrid is very similar to the weather in North Carolina around this time of year. It does, however, get very very hot in the summer time.

The Plaza de Espana was built for international exhibition. La Boqueria is a famous market in Spain. Casa Batilo was built to have the appearance of being made from skulls and bones. The Gothic Quarter is the center of Barcelona's old city. Barcelona also has fantastic beach scenes.

Typical crop/agriculture in Spain

Spain is Europe's leading producer of mandarins and oranges. Spain is second to Italy in producing grapefruit, lemons, and limes. Spain's significant orchard crops are apples, bananas, pears, peaches, apricots, plums, cherries, figs, and nuts. Bananas are only grown in the Canary Islands. Figs are grown mostly in the Balearic Islands.

"Limon y Sal" is, basically, rice with chicken or fish. It is very popular in Valentina, Spain. "Jamon" (ham) is a traditional meat in Spain. "Tortilla Espanola" is a more simple dish. It is just potatoes, oil, and eggs. Spain is the home of the oldest restaurant in the world--Botin (open since 1725).

Juan Carlos I is the king of Spain. On November 22, 1975 he was declared king. This was only 2 days after Gerneral Francisco Franco's death. He was actually born in Rome, Italy on January 5, 1938. His mother was Princess Maria de las Mercedes of Bourbon.
