- 170 Ways To Use Word Clouds In Every Classroom | ESL Teaching Ideas | Scoop.it

by Michael Gorman

"Once again, I am amazed every time I talk to groups and find out so many educators have not used word clouds with their students. In fact, I am so sure that you will enjoy this topic I have now up to 170 ways to use word clouds in the classroom. I have tried to include almost every subject. These are a collection of ideas shared with me, various readings, and a lot of my own brainstorming.

"This is an update I promised from my previous 125 ways to use word clouds. I know this will be an article you wish to share with others. In order to better understand some of the advanced uses I suggest you may wish to read a past posts entitled, 12 Valuable Wordle Tips You Must Read. I am certain you will find at least one new idea… and again please give a retweet.  Please note that if you wish two words to stay together in a word cloud using Wordle, just put a tilde between them. A Visual Guide To Slowing Down The Distracted Generation - Edudemic

A Visual Guide To Slowing Down The Distracted Generation - Edudemic | ESL Teaching Ideas | Scoop.it
I’m guilty. And I’m definitely too old to be considered part of the ‘distracted generation’. I didn’t grow up with a device in hand at all times, hopping from shiny thing to shiny thing on the internet. I use tools to help keep me from being distracted online. Distractions are all around with technology, and connecting …

6 Second Learning with Vine: 22+ Ideas & Resources : Teacher Reboot Camp

6 Second Learning with Vine: 22+ Ideas & Resources : Teacher Reboot Camp | ESL Teaching Ideas | Scoop.it

by Shelley Terrell

" I’ve been studying the various new social networks and apps that are gaining momentum. I was excited to discover the creativity and imagination taking place on Vine, a social network with over 40 million people creating and sharing 6 second videos. We can use this popular free mobile app and social network to engage our students and get them to connect with our subject matter. With Vine you can create 6 second videos with your Android, Window or IOS devices. You do need to download the free app to create the videos, but you can watch the videos on the web. Currently, Vine only allows those 17 years-old and up to create personal accounts but don’t let this deter you from creating a class account. If your students create accounts, they can now send you their assignments via the new direct messaging feature."

Top 10 Things Teachers Want From Their Digital Classrooms | ESL Teaching Ideas | Scoop.it
Yes…The digital classroom. Yes, it is here, even if you can’t see it. It’s in the minds of your students, even if you make them switch off their mobile phones. It’s a nagging presence in the back of your mind, even if you still insist on using a cassette player from the 1980s in your classroom. The world is changing even if you are in denial.

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | ESL Teaching Ideas | Scoop.it

"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick.

Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself!

This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."
