Have you seen the AHT/ BEVA/ DEFRA Equine Quarterly Disease Surveillance Report for Oct. – Dec. 2015? 

The highlights of this issue include information about the Equine Herpes Virus-1 (EHV-1) activity in the UK with a focus article entitled ‘’ Equine Herpes Virus (EHV) a Constant Threat’’. Outbreaks of EHV-1 abortions in Belgium, France, Ireland and Italy are also described. Remember that EHV-1 is associated with both abortion and neurological disease. 

A case of Coxiella burnetii abortion in Belgium and a case leptospirosis related abortion in France are also described. Finally, you can find information about an outbreak of Dourine in Botswana. Trypanosoma equiperdum is the causative agent of Dourine, which is a venereal disease affecting equines.
