Way back in 1963 I started out on my career as a teacher of Design and Technology. I have always been a 'problem solver' and thus when computers first arrived on the education scene, in about 1980, I was one of the first to see how computing could make life easier for both teachers and pupils. And this has been my mission ever since!

Listing your dog as a reference on a job application or including your ability to do the moonwalk as a special skill may grab a potential employer's attention, but it won't land you the job.

During one visit there, I remember looking around and thinking that this was the kind of place that I would like to work, and the kind of thing I would like to do.

Over the past few weeks, my work-life balance has shifted slightly in home’s favour, which has been lovely. Having time off from work and spending more time with my family has been fantastic. As you would expect, my children have been a huge part of this home time and most days I am struck by how the things that they are learning and the way that they interact with each other provide me with lots of opportunity for reflection for both home and work, which I wanted to share.

Writers take words seriously - perhaps the last professional class that does - and they struggle to steer their own through the crosswinds of meddling editors and careless typesetters and obtuse and malevolent reviewers into the lap of the ideal reader. John Updike

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)... [Not quite an ePortfolio as I would describe Todd's presentation, but an altogether excellent presentation (speaking as an ex-teacher of Design & Technology) which should be a significant part of his whole ePortfolio - RT]

An excellent personal eFolio. Worth looking at just for the approaches used, eg look at the link for employment to see something different to the usual lists - I wish that I had thought of it!

Is it an ePortfolio? Is it a blog? Is it a blatant example of a lecturer trying to sell his books? Whatever you may think of Christopher Long's methods, he broadcasts a profound message concerning 'The Gutenberg Parenthesis'. How the ePortfolio can best exploit this new 'parallel universe' is the question that comes to my mind.
