Apple criticised over in-app cash | eParenting and Parenting in the 21st Century | Scoop.it

Apple has been criticised by the European Commission for not offering any "concrete and immediate" plans to stop users being misled by "free" apps.

Many popular apps are free to download, but are designed to tempt users to pay for in-game enhancements - often allowing for quicker progression.

The Commission is now forcing Apple and Google, the biggest vendors of apps, to make the "true cost" of games clear.

Violent video games: More playing time equals more aggression

Violent video games: More playing time equals more aggression | eParenting and Parenting in the 21st Century | Scoop.it
A new study provides the first experimental evidence that the negative effects of playing violent video games can accumulate over time. Researchers found that people who played a violent video game for three consecutive days showed increases in aggressive behavior and hostile expectations each day they played. Meanwhile, those who played nonviolent games showed no meaningful changes in aggression or hostile expectations over that period.

A parent of one of the teenage girls at the centre of serious assault allegations has expressed her disappointment over her daughter's actions. - New Zealand Herald
Peter Mellow's insight:

Great that one parent can stand up and apologise for their children's actions

I like how she said;  ''I won't have this be what my family represents''.

People need to take more individual and personal responsibility for their actions. Hopefully she can persuade her daughter to do the right thing. Let's hope that these girls learn from this lesson and move forward in a positive way.
