37 Ways to Help Kids Learn to Love Reading

37 Ways to Help Kids Learn to Love Reading | eParenting and Parenting in the 21st Century | Scoop.it

These are powerful words, and they speak to the power of reading to open doors to empathy, adventure, and learning. A love of reading doesn't happen automatically though. It needs to be nurtured and guided until it flourishes into a well-read, well-rounded human being.

Suva's curator insight, April 2, 10:53 AM

I chose this article as many parents see the importance in ensuring that their child cultivate the habit of reading at an early. They see this necessity because many children who are not exposed to different genres of books find themselves having a difficult time comprehending what is being told to them or find themselves stuck in the past. Hence, to prevent this from happening this article comes handy as it mentions how children could be encouraged to read. The tips stated in this article would make a difference in a child's life.

CMU professor writes parenting book - The Tartan

CMU professor writes parenting book - The Tartan | eParenting and Parenting in the 21st Century | Scoop.it

As we progress into the 21st century, the role of artificial intelligence and robotics has become an increasingly controversial topic. While the increasing presence of these technologies has brought conveniences into our lives — from intelligent personal assistants to robot-assisted surgery — it also raises many concerns, including the potential consequences of these technologies on the social and financial welfare of future generations. In his latest book, Parenting for Technology Futures Part 1: Education & Technology, Illah Nourbakhsh, a professor of robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, offers parenting advice on how to best prepare children for a technology-driven future.

Beyond his achievements as a professional, at the end of the day, Nourbakhsh is a father who carries the strong belief that parents must be active participants in the learning development of their children. “You cannot outsource it to a computer, and you cannot outsource it to the teacher,” he stated. “You have to be actively participating in that process if you want your kids to succeed.”
