Leaving Our Descendants A Whopping Rise in Sea Levels by Fen Montaigne: Yale Environment 360

Leaving Our Descendants A Whopping Rise in Sea Levels by Fen Montaigne: Yale Environment 360 | Environmental Science | Scoop.it
German scientist Anders Levermann and his colleagues have released research that warns of major sea level increases far into the future.
Thale Jacobsen's insight:

This article talks about how damaged our environment is, and how we are leaving it behind for the next generations. Human kind have to take action and change the way we live on earth. For every 1 degree celcius the temperature increases the sea levels will rise with 2.3 meters. Scientist predict that within the next century or two the overall temperature on earth will increase with 4-5 degrees. The article also discuss how the rise of sea levels will impact humans, we will have to find different places to live.

The main point in this article is that we have to change the way we live, inorder to keep living on earth.  I liked this article, it made me more aware of how much we are damaging the environment and how we do so little to help it.  I would recomend other people to read this article and share it with other people inorder to raise awareness.

The World is Closer to a Food Crisis than Most People Realise - Our World

The World is Closer to a Food Crisis than Most People Realise - Our World | Environmental Science | Scoop.it
Unless we move quickly to adopt new population, energy, and water policies, the goal of eradicating hunger will remain just that.
Thale Jacobsen's insight:

This article is about how there wont be enough food for human kind in the future and how this future will be there sooner than we though and expected. Not only is the the food crisis closer because earth is more populated, but becuase the conditions for harvesting and growing crops is worse, much due to the increasing rate of extreme weather. I would recomend this article for people who are interested in the environment and the future, this article focues mostly on the food crising hitting the U.S and not so much how it will affect the rest of the world.
