Planning to flourish in a world of 7 billion - Thinking Differently about A Green Economy | Corporate "Social" Responsibility – #CSR #Sustainability #SocioEconomic #Community #Brands #Environment | Scoop.it
A new report from the Royal Society has concentrated minds on the stark challenges posed faced by population growth.

"The trick will be to encourage more sustainable forms of consumption that don't impact so heavily on the planet's finite resources. At the moment we're moving in the wrong direction so we need to develop different thinking about consumption, different thinking about what a green economy might look like".

CEO Pay Absolutely Exploding Compared To That Of Workers

CEO Pay Absolutely Exploding Compared To That Of Workers | Corporate "Social" Responsibility – #CSR #Sustainability #SocioEconomic #Community #Brands #Environment | Scoop.it
It's good to be chief executive....

Income inequality between CEOs and workers has exploded, with CEOs last year earning 209.4 times more than workers, compared to just 26.5 times more in 1978 -- meaning CEOs are taking home a larger percentage of company gains.

That trend comes despite workers nearly doubling their productivity during the same time period, when compensation barely rose. Meanwhile, workers saw their inflation-adjusted wages fall in recent years as corporations postponed giving raises while adding to their record corporate profits.

The World Peace Game, a brainchild of public school teacher John Hunter, pits teams of students against each other as leaders of countries in crises and conflict. The students scheme and negotiate, compete and cooperate, wage war and make peace. But the game is not won until all countries enjoy security and prosperity. Says one fourth grader, “One of the things I learned is that other people matter. In this game one person can’t win, everyone has to win. That taught me a lot about cooperating with other people, being generous, and having an attitude that, if you work together, you can achieve anything.”

“Today knowledge is ubiquitous, constantly changing, growing exponentially… Today knowledge is free. It’s like air, it’s like water. It’s become a commodity… There’s no competitive advantage today in knowing more than the person next to you. The world doesn’t care what you know. What the world cares about is what you can do with what you know.”
