What Exit Interviews Reveal About Why Employees Leave I Derek Irvine | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it

'David Witt, writing in the Blanchard LeaderChat blog, recently highlighted the top 10 reasons why employees quit — from the employees’ perspective.

And, this is very different than the employer perspective in which “9 out of 10 will tell you it’s about the money.”

From a PwC study of 19,000+ employees who completed exit interviews with PwC clients, the results are clear:...'

'Nombreuses sont les entreprises qui abandonnent progressivement leurs ERP purs et durs pour adopter des systèmes plus décentralisés, intégrant des technologies sociales et reposant bien souvent sur le Cloud : on les appelle systèmes d’engagement. Les Ressources Humaines n’échappent pas à cette tendance, mais est-ce vraiment suffisant pour motiver et conserver ses meilleurs collaborateurs ?'

Why HR Needs to Start Worrying About Retention Again I Tim Sackett

Why HR Needs to Start Worrying About Retention Again I Tim Sackett | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it

'Yes, 2014 will be the year retention returns to HR.

Retention almost died during the Great Recession. For almost 10 years, HR pros were able to roam the halls of their organization and almost never had to worry about the issue of retention.

There weren’t many jobs. Most people in times of hardship, hunker down and don’t move. It was like a perfect retention storm!...'

Empowering Employees to Develop Themselves I The Build Network Staff

Empowering Employees to Develop Themselves I The Build Network Staff | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it

'Hiring new talent is both costly and time-consuming. According to a 2012 survey of 500 human resources professionals, the average cost to fill a position is nearly $11,000, and it generally takes new employees eight months to become fully productive.

But wait, it gets worse: Companies typically lose 23 percent of new employees during their first year on the job. So the time and effort managers spend to hire and train new talent is often wasted. Think of all the resources you could save if you simply worked harder to retain existing staff.'

'These days, there’s lots of talk about the plight of a generation filled with hungry souls looking for purpose in life. Many find themselves feeling restless in their current roles, or searching endlessly for the ideal career path. Although most of us must work to pay our way in the world, I think the mission is larger than just finding a great job. It’s also about finding strong role models.'

Employee Retention Doesn’t Just Happen: Five Keys to a Clear Strategy I Scott Span | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it

'What employee retention strategies do you use to engage and retain employees? Research from the Bureau of Labor Statistics bureau show that the average American will hold around 11.3 jobs during their working years. The average number of jobs held is actually going up — especially with Millennials. IT Policies Can Affect Recruiting and Retention

IT Policies Can Affect Recruiting and Retention | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it

Any company that adopts a people-first belief system understands the importance of finding and hiring the right people. We’ve been basically doubling our team every year for the past few years; we are constantly in a hiring state and always on the lookout for really good people. You have to be a company that top talent wants to work at in order to win the war for top talent; this means that we are constantly tweaking our environment and culture to make sure that we stay (at least) one step ahead of our competitors in delivering the kinds of things that employees want. It might not seem obvious at first, but IT policies can be a major factor in this.

Employee Development: Using it as a Retention Tool | Bridget Miller

Employee Development: Using it as a Retention Tool | Bridget Miller | Entretiens Professionnels | Scoop.it
Some employers fear spending on employee development, citing the risk that the employee might take those new skills and leave. This fear is pervasive. It affects decisions not only for new hires, but for long-term employees wanting to advance their skills. This can become a catch-22, however, since employees who are not given opportunities to grow and develop new skills may grow increasingly dissatisfied.
