Must Know Things about Cash Flow: Business Finance Tips

If you want to succeed in any venture, this is the first thing you should understand before starting out. Without the knowledge of cash flow, any business will go towards an ugly downfall.

Cash-in and Cash-out The first step to do is to sum up all the costs such as rent, payroll, advertising, products and services. Estimate cost for a duration of a month or a week depending on your preferences. Forecast sales and subtract your total estimated cost. This would give you an idea of the possible profit that you can gain. Decide whether the digits you are seeing match your ideal profit.

Avoid Credit Suppliers oftentimes provide credit for supplies that cannot be paid on time, in a form of cash or time credit. Avoid this habit as much as possible because any form of credit is always bad for your business. If this seems inescapable, you can take advantage of supplier discounts that range from 5% to 10% discount. Grab this opportunity to save money for your business.

Always Have Backup Cash There are always unexpected and emergency expenses in all types of businesses. Backup cash is very handy so make sure you include a budget for this to avoid further credit and financial strain. A tip to prevent overspending on maintenance supplies and equipment is to invest in quality materials and equipment to prevent regular repair.

Customer Deposits This is something that you need to be careful of. If your business is a catering service, individual policy applies, but generally, a client should be required to deposit at least 20% to 50%. If the service will be implemented in a month or a year, budget the deposit for the expenses that will be required for the event and be prepared when a client cancels the event because this may require you to return a portion of the deposit. Make sure your catering or restaurant policy includes an agreement concerning the amount of deposit that will be returned to the customer should they choose to cancel the event. Ascertain that the customer understands this.

Entrepreneur Article Five: The Root Cause of Entrepreneurial Failure

Entrepreneur Article Five: The Root Cause of Entrepreneurial Failure | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
An article on the root cause of entrepreneur and entrepreneurial failure
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Common Causes of Entrepreneurial Failure

Entrepreneurship is a hot trend nowadays. Aside from being employed in a government or a public institution, most individuals prefer to engage in small-scale entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is a private enterprise where individuals find liberty in controlling their business-mindedness in a much smaller scale. There are a multitude of individuals who made it out and became successful in the field, but majority of small-scale business entrepreneurs fail. What caused such failure?

Causes of failure

An article about the root causes of entrepreneurial failure, points out the lack of knowledge and capital to sustain the scheme, as the common causes. But taking these two causal factors aside, it is imperative to arrive to a conclusion that successful entrepreneurship can be boiled down to possessing the necessary skills or aptitude and most significantly, the passion for the business and in making it happen.

Knowledge and Passion

First let us discuss a little about the lack of knowledge and passion. This is the most primordial thing to consider before starting out as a small scale entrepreneur. Passion and knowledge go together because a person must be well-informed about something he or she finds interesting. An individual would never start a fashion business without having the passion for clothing lines. A food blogger wouldn’t continue to write about interesting recipes if he’s not fond of cooking or at least going on food trips. It’s all about what a person is interested in and about the passion. Passion will definitely spark something beautiful if used. You can never go wrong if you do, and engage in, something you love. But of course, in the world of business, merely loving your product may not be sufficient.

Capital

Secondly, sustaining a capital in a given business enterprise is just as stressful. Sustaining a capital for the venture to keep operating is as crucial as starting the venture itself. But it’s not unattainable. Careful planning and budgeting is essential to meet the growing demand of the business. A portion of the amount you earn from the business will be subjected to cutting off for expenditure purposes. If the cash that comes in is below the expenditure costs, then the venture would probably end up in the verge of collapse. However, there are loans and credits you may have to consider. However, also take into consideration the profitability of your venture in the coming months and years.

Quality VS profitability

Don’t consider money as a sole motivation. We know that business is all about gaining profit, attracting customers and the like. As shocking as it may sound, starting entrepreneurs shouldn’t put too much focus on this. Don’t get me wrong. Ensuring profitability is critical (in fact, vital) for a small- scale business, but the quality of the products or services should go with it. A clothing line business would never succeed if it sells low quality products. Quality is something that customers seek in a product. Quality product is a lifeline for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Knowing the basic scheme and Starting out.

Assessing the most fitting business is critical in the world of entrepreneurship. Recognizing competition and remaining competitive is just as challenging. Small business owners start out by reviewing their basic knowledge about a particular business of interest. The review also recommends them to identify key resources that they will need in starting out in their field of interest.

How to Protect Copyrights on the Web

How to Protect Copyrights on the Web | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Just because something is on the Web does not make it 'free' for copying. Copyright and intellectual property laws still apply.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Copyrights

It’s an easy rule actually, if it’s not yours, you need to have permission to use it before copying it. Because basically, when you don’t, you’re stealing. Still, not everyone is aware of this.

What exactly is copyright? It is an owner’s right to permit somebody else to replicate their work in the form of articles, journals, graphics, photos, videos, blueprints, music, lyrics, and many more that we should be aware of.

How can these works be duplicated or reproduced? One thing we do and may not realize that we are already reproducing their work is when we print a web page, copy codes or download and print images. The good news is, not every copyright owner objects to the personal use of their works, which means, there’s no rule that was violated.

Every document in a web page is protected by copyright laws. Some copyright notices you may have encountered are images with watermarks.

Copying something alone can be considered an infringement the moment a person’s own work is being reused without their permission. For example, a television channel has their famous show and fans create a website/fan page for this show. Photos, videos, HTMLs in that fan page may come from the channel’s copyrights and if those were posted without any permission, the station has every right to demand they be removed.

How will they know? One thing we might not notice is that every moment of the day, there are these “spiders” that search out possible infringements. Once found, the site will be flagged and reviewed for copyright infringement. For small business, consider you have one; you can also track this possible stolen content with companies that can help you track and scan infringement (Examples are CopyScape and FairShare).

Dealing with this is a bit complicated for starters, still, it's always good to know how to protect your copyrights and avoid infringing on others.

4 Questions Before You Launch That Start-Up

4 Questions Before You Launch That Start-Up | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
We'd all love to have a few million dollars to start our business, but the reality is that for most entrepreneurs, you have to prove your concept first before anyone will put up that kind of money. But most businesses require some sort of initial capital for things like inventory, marketing, physical facilities, etc. If you don't have the money yourself that you need to open your doors for business, here are some options to explore.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Financing your Start-up Business

A lot of people have lately entered the world of business and as it’s growing, many are looking for ways on how to fund their plans. Before exploring your financial choices, ask yourself - how long do you think you will be able to pay back a loan? Are you willing to take the risk if somehow the company won’t be successful? If yes, below are some of the options that can help you on financing.

The first source that can possibly work out is to borrow money from your friends and family. Share ideas about what your company is about and prepare necessary files to show them. Better if they’d invest in your plans.

Bank loans are offered by local banks in your community and can be your best option if the first one doesn’t work; it’s easily obtained when it’s backed by assets and third-party guarantors.

A great tool for cash and management is a credit card. All there is to do is to manage the card’s purpose well, for effectiveness.

Venture on capitalists that can be your investors. By doing so, consider the help of a financial adviser.

When the bank declines your request for a loan, seek private lending. They are more willing on taking risks on loans; especially if they see a potential success in your business.

Know that there are 2 types of financing: Debt and Equity financing. Debt financing is when you agreed to pay back the exact money you have borrowed in a particular time while Equity financing, is when an investor agrees to take risks in your company for failure or better, for success.

Achieving these options requires a solid business plan and experience in financing (financial advisers can help) to eventually be lucky in starting a business.

If you have a Facebook account, you would notice those advertisements beside your homepage. These are Facebook advertising offers. So if you want to increase likes and audience share to your page, this technique could be of good use.

Facebook doesn’t really release much information on these ads but, if you’re one of the few who knows, grab the chance!

Facebook contests can help interact with the people who are interested in the kind of products you sell out there. Be reminded that you cannot fully impliment the contest inside Facebook alone, associate with other links that offer contest templates and let Facebook be the gateway for it all.

The Top 15 Social Media Marketing Strategy Mistakes to Avoid - Jeffbullas's Blog

The Top 15 Social Media Marketing Strategy Mistakes to Avoid - Jeffbullas's Blog | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Simply opening an account or sending out tweets is not enough to make your social media effective. Here are 15 social media marketing strategy mistakes to avoid.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Mistakes to Avoid in Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing has become one of the most used tactics for businesses to expand and search for more audiences. But as the numbers of these businesses are growing, a lot of mistakes come along with it, which is the reason why social media marketing is not successful for everyone. Still, these can be avoided as long as these mistakes are being acknowledged.

NO STRATEGY. When you do not have the right strategy or you don’t have any at all - and you enter the world of social media marketing with nothing at all, there’s this chance of failing. Creating a strategy is important; it will allow you to think through the possibilities before you even encounter them.

NO IMAGES. When people see that it’s all words out there, they may not enjoy it or rather they won’t even read it. Use pictures that can help you commercialize and that are credited to you as well. This can help you engage more audiences and can add the chance of commercial success.

NO INTERACTION. When you leave your audience without an answer, they become uninterested and may not go back. There are certain questions from the audience that cannot be simply answered by the FAQ’s written, so when one asks (A question that makes sense, of course), try to interact and answer their questions.

NO DESCRIPTION. Describe your product in a way that everyone can understand and learn as well. Write the important details that your product has to offer. An example would be you’re selling a scar-healing product—is it safe? What are its ingredients? What makes your product more effective than the others? Can everyone use it? Testimonials from past consumers can also help as long as they are legitimate and not compensated.

When you know you’re ready, you will be able to create your own social media voice.

Be Effective In Delivering A Good Presentation And Speech

Being an effective speaker during a speech requires practice and there are effective strategies to employ to overcome stage fright. Presenting one’s self confidently and speaking in an effortless manner will be a great start in keeping your audience’s attention.

Avoid fidgeting, shaking and pacing, as these are signs of nervousness that can easily be noticed. It’s actually normal to be nervous but appearing calm and confident will show people that you have a message to impart and that they ought to listen.

A calm facial expression and a good posture are important. Your face defines what’s going on with you, give a genuine smile and stand up straight. This doesn’t only make you look professional but also friendly, which can make you appear more relatable and also convincing. It will also make your audience warm up to you more.

Use your hands and arms to gesture for attention. This will help your audience follow and listen to your topic. You create a powerful message by working your words and body together by keeping in mind that your gestures must not be excessive or robotic.

Eye contact. This is the most important gesture you need to apply to be an effective speaker. People do not want to listen to people who can’t even look them in the eye, it makes you unconvincing. Instead, be able to make eye contact with your audience to keep them engaged with you as the speaker. Look at them as if you are interested in them, not just at one person but also the entire audience, from front to back. If you have notes in your hands, don’t stare at them most of the time. Look up and give a warm smile to the people you are speaking to. Speak in a slow, calm manner in order to sound as natural and as friendly as possible. Keeping these pointers in mind, you will be sure to captivate your audience each and every time.

Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Achieving Real Success With Social Media Marketing

It is very possible for entrepreneurs to attract tons of loyal customers through an effective social media marketing strategy. Repeat business transactions, getting your brand recognized, and introducing your products and services would all be within your reach. However, these things can only be achieved with a great amount of effort on the social media platform. Fortunately, there are several solutions and approaches to obtain real success through social media marketing.

When using social media as a tool for marketing, timing is everything. You have to schedule your e-mails, status updates, tweets and even blog posts at the appropriate time, especially when you aim to target a certain demographic or client base. You need to research when are the best times to ‘catch’ potential customers during the time of the day when they are mostly engaged in checking their social media accounts and have the time to do a few clicks on your posted link to see what you have to offer. However, determining the ‘right time’ is tricky. For instance, for busy professionals working in an office setting, this time can be during their break that only lasts for a few minutes.

It would also be ideal to have a certain amount of interaction with your potential and loyal customers. According to Buddy Media, about 92% of Facebook post in which the status is a question will get attention or comments in comparison to typical status update. Therefore, if you will use Facebook for your business, add the right questions at the end of your post. On the other hand, another social media platform, Twitter, recommends online entrepreneurs and brands to ask their followers to 'retweet' a simple and short message.

Another proven method is to use images/photos to promote on social media. This outperforms using videos, texts or links. The best images to use are those that are self-explanatory such as charts and info graphs.

Strategy, timing and effort are all needed to promote your brand in social media without having to consume more than 140 characters or spend a fortune.

Structure is said to be the main key to the delivery of a very good leadership speech. It is essential to connect with your listeners right away. You should convey three things:

Where you came from

Where you are right now

Where you are headed

vRelate to the audience and prime them up to listen with open minds. Introduce yourself as the speaker with authority. Acknowledge everyone and the possible resistance to your vision or opinions. Nonetheless, the conclusion of your talk is probably more crucial than the introduction.

This is the moment wherein you are closest to people listening to your speech. It is also the perfect opportunity to reinforce your position and neutralize any opposition. You will surely gain the respect of many people if you have the capability to enthral audiences. The structure of your speech should be adaptable. The messages should be very clear and worth listening to. It is up to the speaker to personalize all key messages.

Try to watch actual deliveries of talks by renowned public speakers or even video footages. See these experts in action and learn their styles and gestures. You should assume a good posture while standing up, standing behind the podium or walking across the stage. Speak coherently notwithstanding your innate speaking manner. Passion, confidence and dedication are necessary for a respectable delivery. Practice well prior to the actual speaking engagement. It is advisable to do this before a full-length mirror. Try to invite some of your friends or family members to act as audience. Be relevant to the spectators at all times. It is the secret to successful delivery.

There will always be enough room for improvement. Therefore, do not be frustrated if you commit a few mistakes after the first time. It will certainly be better the second time around.

8 Essential Elements of a Social Media Marketing Strategy | | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Do you need help getting started with your social media marketing strategy? Here's what you need to get started.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Vital Components in Social Media Marketing Strategies

Get started in planning your strategies in social media marketing. Social media can be your best ally in promoting any business to prospective customers. Find out the things to include in your social media campaign.

Single out your so-called entrepreneurial targets. Each strategy is meant to fulfill business objectives. Remember that it is impossible to advance unless you know your goals. Assess business requirements carefully. Most importantly, utilize social media sites because this will help you accomplish said needs. What should your strategies include? Increase brand consciousness, maintain your existing customers and minimize marketing expenditures. These should be your top three concerns.

There should also be definite benchmarks. Social media marketing goals should identify successful implementation of plans. Use the so-called S-M-A-R-T Methodology. This simply means Specific, Measurable or (Quantifiable), Achievable, Relevant or (Pertinent) and Time-bound.

At the same time, determine ideal clients. In case your enterprise does not get very good engagement on your social pages, it may denote that your customer profile is not accurate. Some of the things that you must identify are the age bracket that your target audience belongs, their occupation or profession, income range, problems, preferences, motivations, likes, and dislikes.

Make use of social media to achieve business targets. Marketing experts say that strategies in social media concentrate primarily on customer awareness, loyalty and maintenance. Likewise, figure out the demographics of potential and existing customer segments. This brings you to the very important aspect of knowing your targeted audience. Measure up social media marketing initiatives with networks where customers spend time the most.

Assess your competitors. Competitive analysis is a primary element in any marketing technique. Pinpoint principal topics and begin creating value. You need to do more than tweet or make status updates. It is imperative for you to become aggressive and provide value without committing the mistake of over-selling.

How to Make an Impression: Presentation Tips

What percent of your previous presentations have left an unforgettable impression to your audience? Probably less than 50%. These are practical steps you can take to give a 100% positive impression during your presentation.

Be Enthusiastic If you want to leave a positive impression on the audience, always believe in your presentation. Never make people feel that you are doubtful of the information that you are sharing with them. Always be enthusiastic. How? Use contrasting tones when you speak to create variation. A Study shows that a majority of people react to different tones of voice when speaking rather than the low-pitched monotone sounds of speakers.

Surprise the Audience Own the first 5 minutes of the presentation. This is a crucial point in which the audience makes a mental decision if they are going to continue listening to you or not. You can surprise them by stating something funny in relation to the topic or something totally off topic and then explain its surprising relevance, or you can show a familiar picture to the audience.

Travel This doesn’t mean that you need to run and hop around the stage to entertain the audience. This simply means that you need to move around the stage a little. You may move away from the podium and towards the audience. This creates a transition and promotes clear sight. You should be 100% viewable to the audience.

Interact with Your Visuals Use a laser pointer, if available, to provide ease in the presentation. This will allow you to move your body comfortably and to initiate meaningful signals to the audience.

The “B” Key This is the B key that you can access during your PowerPoint slideshow or Keynote presentation. The key will give out a blank page so that the attention of the audience will be redirected to you, the presenter, enabling them to focus more on the discussion.

Good Lighting Presenters are usually tempted to turn the lights off for the presentation to be more visual. However, this is not a good idea since this can induce sleep and puts more focus to the slide rather than you, the presenter. Make the audience understand that you are the voice in the presentation and not the visuals.

Steps in Building your Own Website

Building a website is not as difficult as you think. However, if you really want to make money from your website, you need to set aside a considerable amount of time or money to do this. Here are easy steps in building your own website.

Evaluate the Kind of Website that You Want Is it a website for your small business? If so, make sure that the layout you conceptualize inside of your mind is appropriate for a business website. Understand that a business website contains information like a digital map, contact information and uses pictures of your store for easy recognition of your business. An example of a business website is a brochure website. This is the simplest to build and is primarily used by restaurants and other small businesses.

Services to Offer Decide on what offer you will display on your website. 10 Tips for a Killer Presentation

Tips That You Can Use in Delivering a Speech and Presentation

Dying to have the audience blown away by your speech? Struggling to make a positive impression during your presentation? We all go through that heart-wrenching moment where all eyes from the crowd are on you, but instead of being a shy speaker, these tips will transform you into a confident speaker in no time.

Take care of your Visual Aid

Your visuals are usually in a form of a PowerPoint presentation that will guide your audience (and even you) through your speech. Your visual aid is your best friend. It should appear as an outline where each of your topics rests. Don’t bombard it with a lot of information. Most details will come from your speech or discussion. You should be the one to discuss and elaborate your ideas, not your visuals. Visuals should be light as possible. Bullets and highlights are helpful. Make sure they are easy to understand; don’t use confusing words or terms.

Eye Contact

This is more important than you think. Look at your audience. Don’t look at the furniture or gaze at your visuals too long. This is the most elementary rule in public speaking. When you initiate eye contact to your audience, make sure you scan the whole crowd. Don’t just focus on one corner or person. You may want to make the audience feel that they are part of the presentation and that you are more than grateful to have them.

Be Confident. Sometimes it’s all about the confidence and having your own personality. Showcase your personality in your speech or presentation. This is a wonderful opportunity for the crowd to know you more. Smile and talk as if you are seriously talking to a single person. Make your speech sound intimate and private. That will present an air of enthusiasm. Audience wants to hear a presenter or a speaker who is really interested and excited to share information and his or her experiences.

Humor. Injecting humor is a good strategy to sustain the attention and the interest of the audience, but make sure you are not the only one cracking up after punching in a few jokes. Be serious in delivering your humor. Seriousness, ironically and apparently, makes your humor more humorous. Humor is different from sarcasm and you need to be fully aware of that especially when presenting in a corporate event.

Humanize yourself. When delivering a speech or a presentation; you don’t want to sound like the most righteous person in the world or like you’re preaching about the norm. That doesn’t mean you need to be negative though. State straightforward facts, may it be ugly or pretty. The audience stops listening not because they heard what they expected to get, but because they are eager to hear things that they did not expect. Knowing that will make your speech and presentation worthy to be listened to

Know Your Language. Bottom-line is- no one wants to hear “like, u know, ahmms” and especially, mispronounced words. They will give a bad impression to your audience. You may want to practice delivering your speech or presentation a few days before. Review how you enunciate and pronounce words because these are not small things. You don’t want to sound like a machine onstage. The audience expects you to be a good speaker. Period. Don’t disappoint them. As the old saying goes ‘Practice makes perfect.’ It will not hurt when you practice a few lines before a presentation. It’s always helpful.

Helpful Tricks That Will Improve Your Social Media Marketing

Starting out in social media marketing might be a little challenging at first, but as soon as you get a hold of these tips on improving your social media marketing, your virtual market could grow to immense proportions. It’s of utmost importance to first see the basic and fundamentals in social marketing before aiming for the big cheese. This will satisfy your customers, improve your product and achieve your main goal.

Understanding Your Target Audience

Before diving into building a diverse group of interesting content for your social media market. It’s important to first understand and listen to your target audience. Listening will help you identify the needs of your audience, which is one of the most important things to consider. Instead of just talking, observe their behavior and what they usually talk about so that you are able to generate a sensible topic that will fit to your audience’s interests and needs.

Be Specific

The umbrella term is not a good format for social media marketing. It is essential to gear your attention to a single topic. This is where you’ll focus your attention for your social media marketing plan. Discussing and delving to a broad topic will confuse your audience. If necessary, start with a broad topic and slowly present simple subtopics as you move on.

Focus on Quality

The old cliché still exists and remains true. Quality is ultimately better than quantity in so many levels. The quality of your content will increase the probability of getting more audience to read, share, and talk about your ideas. Don’t settle with so many topics and sacrifice good quality content. If you are too concerned about generating traffic in your social media market, remember that traffic and quality content go together.

Be Patient

The success of social media marketing doesn't happen overnight. In fact, it entails dedication and hard work. Success can never be achieved without the addition of patience, perseverance and persistence.

Expand Your Social Network

Social networks such as Twitter and Facebook play an important role as avenues for your content to be shared and as a tool to increase your chances of boosting your multimedia presence. Expand your engagement in these networks. They are very helpful in providing your readers with information so that they can get to know you more. People like to know the genius behind the talent.

Rapport-building

Building rapport and establishing a healthy relationship to the big boss of social market is imperative. This will increase your chances of learning new ideas based on the content from a more appropriate and trendy source. Connecting with these high profile linkages may increase your chances of catching the attention of a whole new audience. This will also provide an opportunity for you to grow more competitive and competent.

Value Your Audience

It’s not good to just keep on posting advertisements about your product to your target audience because this may actually be suffocating to your audience and may lead to distrust. Communicate with them and make your audience feel that you value their needs and their feedback as well.

Be Approachable

Accommodating and recognizing a customer who reaches out to you is significant. Build an environment where every feedback from a reader counts. This will encourage the audience to deal with you more and avail of your content.

Always be Available and Accessible

The audience don’t just read and go. Most of them want to engage in a conversation with you. Make sure you are always available to answer their questions. This will build trust and improve the already-established relationship you have with your audience.

Give and Take

Selfishness doesn’t work in the world of social media marketing. Most of your spare time will be allotted for sharing content to other people. You must always possess an air of reciprocity to your audience who may have the same needs as you do.

The 4 Delivery Methods

Westside Toastmasters, public speaking and leadership education, meeting Wednesday evenings in Santa Monica, California
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Public speaking has its common delivering methods which we probably have heard of. These methods differ in the way they're being delivered. What are these methods? How are they different from each other?

Impromptu - If you’re fresh in the public speaking world, this could be quite hard for you unless you’ve had numerous experiences with it yourself. This method is where you have no script or flash cards with you, just yourself answering or speaking in the spur of the moment. In impromptu speaking, you have to know your main point and purpose to maintain that smooth speaking moment. Also, avoid talking to fast especially when you’re nervous.

Memorization - With the word itself, you are delivering a speech from a context word-by-word. This is actually common for starters but somehow, it’s too much pressure, especially when you tend to forget that important word and then suddenly – you stop and forget what you have to say. Memorization also works but only for those of you who actually have fine speaking skills and are used to it. But if you’re required for a memorized speech, practice hard, you will really need it.

Extemporaneous - This here is the opposite of memorization. You familiarize yourself with the context by reading it over and over again. And when speaking time comes, you are to deliver it by verbally sharing the details with your own words. Extemporaneous works well because you’ll be able to speak without too much pressure on what the context fully has to say, just the mere familiarization of yours and enough practice.

Reading - Is one of the easiest delivering method because you’re not speaking unrehearsed, you are speaking on what you (or a writer) has written. But of course, you don’t just go speaking with your eyes fixed on a paper below, maintain eye contact too.

Pet Photography: If you are a pet lover with the skills of basic-professional photography, grab this idea and start your business! Pet owners love to take photos of their pets and these images can be transferred into goodies too, like mugs, key chains, T-shirts or hats.

Pet Clothing, Accessories and Toys: Pet owners treat their pets like a kid and even dress up their pets in fashionable ways. If you love the idea, then why not start this type of business? You can either sell puppy clothes, cat shoes, accessories, fish aquariums and of course, pet toys.

Pet Treats: Somehow, selling pet food is quite popular these days. So if you choose this kind of business, then you have to sell pet gourmets that aren’t constantly available in any other stores to make a difference.

Pet Day Care Center: Regularly, these pet owners need someone to look after their pet, which makes a day care service an option. Hire or work with people who are passionate for these pets - it will make these owners come back for your services.

Pet-Sitting and Walking Services: Related to baby-sitting, when the owners are away, be hired to look after these pets or offer these owners your services of pet walking every day.

Dog Obedience Training: This right here is a big industry that requires professional dog training. If you’re one, grab this idea and start your grand business!

6 Tips to Calm Your Nerves Before Speaking

6 Tips to Calm Your Nerves Before Speaking | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Making a presentation in your community can be nerve wrecking. Learn 6 tips to reduce anxiety and calm your nerves before speaking.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Calming your nerves for speeches or presentations

Okay, let’s face it, speaking in front of a number of people with their eyes fixed on you is nerve racking, especially when it’s an important presentation. We start to fidget, lose words, and worse, forget what we should be speaking about. Here are some quick tips in calming your nerves before you face the crowd that you’re supposed to speak to:

HYDRATION - When we are nervous, we start to become pale and experience this dry mouth that makes it hard for us to continue speaking and according to some, dry mouth is a real sign of anxiety. Keep a bottle with you and drink enough water to keep you hydrated.

VISUALIZE - Try visualizing yourself - already doing your presentation on what you want to do and what you want to happen. Bring yourself to the reality that you are surely going to become nervous and how will you manage to keep a smile when doing so. When it’s not your turn yet, we tend to be calm and think that we are prepared, but when our names are finally called - your heartbeat races.

EXERCISE - exercise can help us keep calm all throughout the day, when you know you’ll be delivering a speech later on, jog outside and clear your thoughts.

BREATHE- Because you have to. Take deep breaths, shake your hands to release tension and when the time comes, fill your head with positive emotions and never forget to face the audience and maintain eye contact.

PRACTICE - It’s the number one most important thing to do when there’s a nerve racking event right ahead of you. During free time, practice saying the words you are to say, in a mirror or with someone else to watch and correct mistakes you’ve made. Being prepared always comes in handy.

Hope these helps - stay calm and good luck!

8 Skills Every Entrepreneur Should Have | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Time is a finite resource, making it very valuable. You cannot repurchase or reproduce time once it has been used. You must understand and be ready for the actual volume of decisions you will be making as an entrepreneur.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Important Values an Entrepreneur Must Obtain

Being an Entrepreneur isn’t as easy as it seems, it requires hard work, confidence, serious decision making, time management, communication, adaptability and most important, courage.

Hard work—an aspiring Entrepreneur or any successful person out there, must have the value of working hard. Hard work is the root of all success. Work harder and do not leave things undone.

Confidence—being shy is okay, but by becoming someone who will back out easily, won’t get anyone anywhere. A confident Entrepreneur will be able to sell anything because he/she is very convincing. With convincing, you have to be confident in doing so.

Serious decision making—be comfortable with your instincts. When gathering information to make a decision, you will not be able to find every bit of information out there. With the knowledge and instincts you have, you will be able to decide easily and confidently. In becoming an Entrepreneur, you will encounter a lot of serious decision making.

Time management—give time to your business and do not make wasting time a habit. Learn to prioritize a plan that you know you can achieve.

Communication—an entrepreneur must be able to talk with clarity in persuading and sharing ideas for a business. Also, in communication, you must be enthusiastic with your own idea and speak in a friendly manner, it helps.

Adaptability—being able to adapt in situations is a must. Quick learning skills and a constant thirst for knowledge makes you a better Entrepreneur.

Courage—if an Entrepreneur does not have the courage to take risks, he/she will not be able to meet success. Courage is important whether it’s risky or not; you make mistakes you learn, you make success, you add confidence to yourself.

Everything can be learned if you have your heart set on becoming an Entrepreneur. If you think you are not qualified, always remember that there are a lot of things you will be able to do as long as you find the work that will make you happy and comfortable at the same time.

Targeting Millennials with Your Social Media Marketing Campaign

Targeting Millennials with Your Social Media Marketing Campaign | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
At one time, marketers focused on targeting baby boomers. Today, marketers are turning their attention to millennials. Primarily the offspring of baby boomers or Gen Xers, millennials comprise a crucial segment of the buying public.
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

Social Media Marketing

Before, it was the norm to go shopping in malls so people could buy stuff that they want and need, such as clothes or books, eat at restaurants, watch a movie in cinemas, and spend some time with your family and friends. Now, with more people becoming too busy to active to do this on a regular basis, the Internet has expanded to addressing these activities and making them available online.

One of the more popular Internet innovations is online shopping. The trend in doing ones shopping online increased tremendously over the past few years, as it is fast and convenient. It also helps people to keep updated with what’s hot when it comes to fashion, books and novels, and many other categories. It has become faster to search for the things you need using the Internet since this can be done anytime and anywhere. A lot of notable companies have taken this challenge head on, even making their shopping sites accessible not only on their websites, but on cell phones using applications for online shopping.

Even social networking sites are now being used to promote online shops and stores. All you need to do is have a copy of their products’ names, pictures and, if possible, a detailed description of the item to be included. But it’s not just what these online entrepreneurs focus on. They should also consider which social networking sites they will use for selling their products, who are their target market, and which places are included in their scope when it comes to pick-up and meet-up venues. If you also want to reach other buyers who are located far from your area, you must also consider delivery services.

As online sellers, you should look trustworthy and legitimate by adding some personal information, yet keep your page private to your buyers. An entrepreneur should also be careful about false buyers online so check your bounce rate and other metrics regularly. Otherwise, you may never know if they are really interested.

7 Tips for Surviving The Leap From Employee to Entrepreneur

7 Tips for Surviving The Leap From Employee to Entrepreneur | Entreprenurial Gems | Scoop.it
Becoming a successful entrepreneur takes more than a great idea and important connections (although both do help). Making the shift from the steady life of a full-time employee ...
Quality Communication Solutions - QCS's insight:

A Leap of Faith from Employee to Entrepreneur

Ideas and connections are important to become successful as an Entrepreneur. Yet, there are other elements to become successful in entrepreneurship. For employees wanting to explore the world of entrepreneurship, there is a need to make changes first with their mindset and in most cases; this includes changes in work habits. In other words, it is not that easy to translate from the steady yet less challenging life of an employee to the dynamic and unpredictable world of an Entrepreneur.

According to statistics, about half of the small businesses survived until their fifth year. You can be one of those who survived by taking into consideration these things:

In a company setting, you would likely say ‘yes’ most of the time to your boss and other employees. In the world of entrepreneurs, saying ‘no’ is necessary as well. There is no need to follow everyone’s wishes, but your main priorities only.

Perfection is not that necessary. You do not have to wait for the perfect time; instead, you create the right time. You simply place emphasis of the items that are high in impact and priority.

Get ready to work for longer hours. As an employee, you work for eight hours a day. As an Entrepreneur, you may work longer than that. Therefore, you have to work on something that you love and may get compensated for it in the end - many times over perhaps.

When you opt to become an Entrepreneur, be ready to take on other job responsibilities like cleaning and doing some IT stuff.

Sticking to a schedule is important. As an Entrepreneur, you set your schedule and not the company doing it for you. If you work from home and have to do parental duties, you can create a schedule that will fit your duties as a parent and as an Entrepreneur.

Before you start your entrepreneurship journey, make sure that you have the resources to start it. Money in entrepreneurship is not always guaranteed.

By following these simple things, you can make your business grow and pro-long its service.
