Bill Belichick Is Sick Of Those Stupid Microsoft Tablets

Bill Belichick Is Sick Of Those Stupid Microsoft Tablets | NFL Football and Fandomonium | Scoop.it
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who has never been one to embrace technology, has had it with Microsoft Surface tablets on NFL sidelines. He went on a surprisingly long-winded rant about the devices in today’s presser, where he essentially said that the tablets suck ass and he’s not using them anymore.
The Scoop's insight:

Oh I can't agree with Belichick more!  Being a fan of Apple products, I am glad to see someone fight back against Microsoft!  I am not saying the league will switch to OS but I do know they are more dependable.  A Surface Table is still a PC!

Panthers defensive end Jared Allen, the NFL's active sacks leader, announced his retirement Thursday via a video, riding off "into the sunset."
The Scoop's insight:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday in an unconventional but appropriate way.

The NFL's active sacks leader (136) posted a video of himself wearing a black cowboy hat, heavy coat and riding a horse off "into the sunset'' even though there was none.

"I just want to say thank you for an amazing 12-year career,'' Allen said in the video. "This is the part where I was going to ride off into the sunset, but seeing how there is no sunset, I'm just going to ride off.''

Allen, who was raised on a ranch, then waved to the camera, turned his horse and rode off into a snowy field.

Allen released the following statement through his agent, Ken Harris:

"I want to take this time to thank my family, friends, fans and teammates who have given their continued support throughout my 12 year career. It's been a great ride for me, and I couldn't be more grateful for the memories. It is with a great deal of thought and consideration that I have decided that I will not return to football next year.

"I want to thank the Carolina Panthers, Chicago BearsMinnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs organizations, who provided me with an opportunity to live out my dream and to be a part of their wonderful communities. Thanks for the life long memories.''

Allen played in Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos with a broken right foot suffered in a divisional playoff win against Seattle.

Coach Ron Rivera hinted after the 24-10 loss to the Broncos that Allen might have played his last game.

Every State's Best Homegrown Running Back

Every State's Best Homegrown Running Back | NFL Football and Fandomonium | Scoop.it
Which state can lay claim to the best running back in football history? PointAfter has found the answer.
The Scoop's insight:

Similar to legendary quarterbacks, plenty of running backs are strongly associated with their home states. Marcus Allen grew up in San Diego, starred in college at USC and won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Raiders. And before he won a Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Dorsett attended high school in Aliquippa, Penn., and won the Heisman Trophy while playing for Pittsburgh.

Brady (4 the Report)'s curator insight, June 12, 2013 10:39 PM

According to Bill Schammert of Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) (I like obscure references), an estimated 30 million people play fantasy football.  To put that number into proper perspective, Canada has an approximate population of 34 million.  Fantasy Football has quite the following, and as if folks were trekking toward Mecca, a large contingent of fans are flocking to their computers for league drafts.  Some have prepared all off-season, for an hour that will determine their fantasy football fate.

The title of this post might give the impression, I have lost some of my enthusiasm for the virtual sport.  That's not true at all.  But, as with religion, each league has a different set of rules.  For me, in the only league that counts, my office league, as defending champion, I was faced with an unforgiving decision.

Keeper rules dictated, I couldn't keep more than one player from any one position, and after trading to obtain Arian Foster in 2011, I had to release my favorite player back into the draft pool.  "All-Day or AD" at the University of Oklahoma, the Viking's Purple Jesus was gone.  You see.. Foster is the top-ranked RB, Adrian Peterson is returning after a serious knee injury.  And, as crazy as this entire post sounds, I know there are folks out there who identify with my conflicted emotions.  I'm a grown ass man.  Yet....

I find myself riddled with guilt, having let Peterson go.  It's the win at all cost nature of Fantasy Football, this season it might have gotten the best of me..the loss of Purple Jesus, Losing my Religion...

It pains me to give a Shout Out to JoeJoe, Owner of DaPlayas, DCFL, for selecting Peterson with your first overall pick, treat that dude right.  I have a Kicker and a Defense I will give ya for him.. I just hit the Proposed Trade button.. Hit me back, will ya?

Readers of this Post and Friends of the (FAM).. I need help with a new Team Name too.. "Beat My Peterson" just won't work this season.. and, I'm certainly not going to change it to "Beat His Peterson".. My boy.. JoeJoe and me.. we aren't that tight..

Later on,

Brother Brady

NFL National Anthem Protests Sink TV Ratings To Five-Year Low

NFL National Anthem Protests Sink TV Ratings To Five-Year Low | NFL Football and Fandomonium | Scoop.it
The league is in denial about a significant reason for the decline in its TV ratings.
The Scoop's insight:

Gee......you don't say!

The NFL’s TV ratings plunge has been consistent throughout the 2016 season. Even though a Rassmusen survey revealed that 32% of respondents were less likely to watch the NFL due to the players protesting the national anthem, the NFL brass is in denial.

Everyone who studies statistics and digital analytics knows the NFL ratings are down because of the protest from players. The NFL better get a grip on this now.  People want to watch the game and not political messages or protests.

Opening day of the NFL's free-agent market

Opening day of the NFL's free-agent market | NFL Football and Fandomonium | Scoop.it
The Dolphins got two declining players and move down in the draft in a Day 1 head-scratcher. The Jets, meanwhile, have a great fit with Matt Forte.
The Scoop's insight:

Opening day of the NFL's free-agent market is drawing to a close. While we have a moment, let's consider some winners and losers.

Best value

The Minnesota Vikings signed a highly regarded, still-young offensive lineman to fill arguably their biggest need without setting a financial precedent. GuardAlex Boone, 28, will sign a contract that averages $6.6 million annually -- a bit more than half what the Oakland Raiders committed to Kelechi Osemele a day earlier. At the moment, Boone ranks sixth among NFL guards in annual pay, and his $10 million in guarantees ranks No. 10. After Osemele, Boone was the Vikings' best option for shoring up an offensive line that left quarterback Teddy Bridgewater pressured on an NFL-high 37 percent of his dropbacks.

Worst value

The Miami Dolphins took on two descending players and dropped out of the draft's top 10 in a trade that will take some time to understand -- if indeed the reasoning ever becomes clear. Playing with the Philadelphia Eagles last season,Byron Maxwell proved that he doesn't like to tackle and that he is nowhere close to a shutdown corner. Linebacker Kiko Alonso, meanwhile, did nothing to dissuade the notion that he is an injury risk. He has now missed 21 games in the past two seasons. How did this trade do anything but leave the Dolphins with two discards and diminished draft position?

So when I watch the Taiwanese Animators’ preview and recap videos the NFL’s biggest games, I ask myself, “Can’t we all be so simple?”

Last week, we posted their preview video (which was fantastic), but here’s their recap, which is even better.

Peyton Manning or Brock Osweiler? It’s not up for debate yet. | NFL Football and Fandomonium | Scoop.it
There were plenty of opinions flying around Sunday after Brock Osweiler made his first NFL start filling in for Manning, who sat out because of a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his left foot, and played well in a victory at Chicago. The fourth-year pro connected on 20 of 27 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. He didn’t have an interception and posted a passer rating of 127.1 as the Broncos held on to prevail, 17-15, and upped their record to 8-2.
