Collaboration in 2015 : between email and new interfaces

Collaboration in 2015 : between email and new interfaces | Social Business and Digital Transformation | Scoop.it
Email is dead, long live email. If many announcements were made in 2014 regarding to collaboration solutions, I guess few people had predicted that the rock star of the year would be the good old email we’ve been trying to eradicate for the last 8 years. The funny thing is that everyone even finds this normal, as if email appeared to be the most accomplished form of…enterprise social network. The beginning of this new year is the right moment to have a look at the collaboration solution industry and the current trends.

Davos: Internet of Things leva di crescita, per l'Italia vale l'1,1% di Pil | Social Business and Digital Transformation | Scoop.it

E’ quanto emerge dalla nuova ricerca di Accenture “Winning with the Industrial Internet of Things”.

Government chief scientific adviser: 'Don’t trivialise the internet of things'

Government chief scientific adviser: 'Don’t trivialise the internet of things' | Social Business and Digital Transformation | Scoop.it

In the introduction to his report, Walport said there was a “danger of trivialising the importance of the internet of things through examples that are used to stereotype it – for example, the fridge that orders fresh milk”.

Walport said IoT could have a much greater impact on society than the first digital revolution, with the potential to support “an extraordinary range of applications and economic opportunities”.

However, he warned there will also be potential for significant challenges around security and privacy breaches, and it will be critical that scientists, programmers and entrepreneurs behave and act responsibly.

Transport for London builds customer profiles using RFID data analytics

Transport for London builds customer profiles using RFID data analytics | Social Business and Digital Transformation | Scoop.it
Cards have become more important than cash in moving around London. In July 2014, Transport for London (TfL) stopped accepting cash on its buses, telling commuters they had to use Oyster cards, or debit or credit cards with a contactless payment chip. It also began to accept cards on its Underground and rail services.

TfL flagged up the customer convenience angle and acknowledged the change would make big savings over time – but the move to card payments will also provide more data it can use for long-term planning.

Employee Engagement Depends on What Happens Outside of the Office

Employee Engagement Depends on What Happens Outside of the Office | Social Business and Digital Transformation | Scoop.it

Companies spend over $720 million each year on employee engagement, and that’s projected to rise to over $1.5 billion. And yet, employee engagement is at record lows — 13% according to perennial engagement survey leader Gallup. What’s wrong here?  Perhaps human resources leaders are spending their money in the wrong places. Or the modern workforce is demanding more. Either way, our models and surveys aren’t working, and we’re making very little progress.

How to make a tabletop telepresence robot to beam yourself into meetings

With this handy little ‘bot, I’m able to control the iPad from 3,000 miles away. I can rotate it 180 degrees to look left and right, letting me follow the conversation and make eye contact with individuals as they speak. Co-workers can pick up the stand and tote me around the office if there’s a last-minute room change — and I once chatted with a fellow iPad-enabled remote worker in the office kitchen. Two iPads talking to each other; great fun.
