A Few Thoughts on Cryptographic Engineering: What is Differential Privacy? https://t.co/yorqeCM1GY
Emeric Nectoux's insight:

Starting with iOS 10, Apple is using Differential Privacy technology to help discover the usage patterns of a large number of users without compromising individual privacy. To obscure an individual’s identity, Differential Privacy adds mathematical noise to a small sample of the individual’s usage pattern. As more people share the same pattern, general patterns begin to emerge, which can inform and enhance the user experience.

Gartner Says Algorithms Are Redefining the Architecture of Business

Gartner Says Algorithms Are Redefining the Architecture of Business | Enterprise Architecture | Scoop.it
“ Gartner Says Algorithms Are Redefining the Architecture of Business Algorithmic Business and Enterprise Architecture Are Core Themes at the Gartner Enterprise Architecture Summit 2016, 15-16 June in London, U.K. The term "algorithmic business" is relatively new, but the practical use of algorithms is already well established in many industries. Gartner, Inc. said that enterprise architects (EAs) and IT leaders must begin designing their algorithmic business models, both to capitalize on their potential for business differentiation, and to mitigate the possible risks involved. "The significant development and growth of smart machines is a major factor in the way algorithms have emerged from the shadows, and become more easily accessible to every organisation," said Steve Prentice, vice president and Gartner fellow. "We can already see their impact in today's world, but there is much work ahead to harness the opportunities and manage the challenges of algorithmic business." Mr. Prentice outlines below the current reality that EA and IT leaders need to prepare for as the disruption from algorithmic business accelerates.”

The Importance of API Management to Hybrid Clouds

The Importance of API Management to Hybrid Clouds | Enterprise Architecture | Scoop.it
API management is serious business. The consequences of bad API management can be dire. In a February 27, 2015, post on the Expert Integrated Systems blog, IBM's Claudio Tagliabue cites the example of Moonpig, a UK-based service whose vulnerable API exposed its customers' credit card information and other sensitive data. Paul Price explains the vulnerability in a January 5, 2015, post.
Tagliabue compares good API practices to software-oriented architecture principles: data consistency, performance, and granularity. Hybrid cloud services depend on APIs — particularly RESTful APIs — to expose select assets of the business to the public and to place private assets behind a firewall.

IoT for healthcare: Three use cases

IoT for healthcare: Three use cases | Enterprise Architecture | Scoop.it
Although the Internet of Things in healthcare is not yet in widespread use throughout the industry, Indranil "Neal" Ganguly predicts that, in the next five years, there will be a massive increase in IoT for healthcare, "both on the clinical side as well as on the back end."

"We're seeing this rapid scaling of these technologies, as the size of the devices and the price of the devices are declining so rapidly, the ideas for how to deploy them are also increasing," Ganguly, vice president and CIO at JFK Health System in Edison, N.J., said. "I think it's going to radically change how we think about tracking activity and be able to actually measure it and actually then look at real data in terms of how we implement process improvement type initiatives."

Ganguly explained how hospitals are using, or could use, IoT for healthcare in three areas: inventory management, workflow optimization and device integration.
