Technology Will Not Replace Teachers

Technology Will Not Replace Teachers | Ensino, Aprendizagem & Tecnologia | Scoop.it
Technology can open doors, expand minds, and change the world. That may be true, but it's not the panacea that it's been made out to be. As much innovation as the iPad may bring to the classroom, it's not going to replace a teacher anytime soon.

Alfredo Corell's curator insight, October 27, 2013 6:20 PM

So yes, technology is going to play a critical role in the future of education. But not as big a role as that of a teacher.

Melissa Marshall's curator insight, October 27, 2013 8:01 PM

Indeed - good teachers are going to become even more valuablem not less.

Audrey's curator insight, November 3, 2013 2:07 PM

Absolutely true.  Technology is another way to present material which needs to be learned.   Learners will always need someone to explain information found on the iPad in the same way they do with books.

This article is filled with some good food for thought.  It is interesting to read about the concept of "Working out Loud", a trend that has developed as a result of the connectivism of social networking.  It is also interesting to read about new trends in learning.  Lots of good food for thought.

Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, November 6, 2013 1:58 PM
What is one skill/attitude/habit of mind that will benefit educators as they strive to be effective and relevant to today's learners (and why)? What skill(s)/attitude(s)/habit(s) of mind can we (educators) help foster in our students so that they can become connected learners? What strategies do you recommend to an educator who wants to become a connected learner?

Actually the same answer applies to all three questions.

> 1. What is one skill/attitude/habit of mind that will benefit educators as they strive to be effective and relevant to today's learners (and why)?

In a word, sharing. Or generosity. Or giving without thought of reward. '

Molina Luis Alberto's curator insight, May 23, 2015 11:44 PM

Although the Jim Judges "jury" is out as far as mobile learning is concerned - this looks like it may be worth investigating further. I haven't read it yet so can't comment or recommend.

The publisher describes this as "A guide with practical examples that gives you hands-on knowledge in creating learning environments for Mobile devices using Moodle"
