What happens to whistle-blowers after the whistle is blown
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Since by its nature whistle-blowing involves revealing secrets, should there not be an independent process to decide if the secrets revealed are really a threat to the nation? IMHO the current administration tends to overreact to every leak. It is one reason I believe that Mr. Obama has been co-opted by the system.

A Gamble in Iran Talks: Easing of the Sanctions

A Gamble in Iran Talks: Easing of the Sanctions | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
President Obama’s critics — in Congress, the Arab world and Israel — argue that he has the strategy backward in negotiating a freeze of Iran’s nuclear program.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

The president's skills as a community organizer are likely to bear fruit in dealing with the rest of the world. After all, most countries, even Iran, are interested in a rational and mutually acceptable outcome. Unfortunately, those same skills and attitude will never work when it comes to dealing with the Republicans. More's the pity for America.

Jane Orient, a physician in Tucson, Ariz., says she's never accepted a dollar of third-party medical payments, whether from a government program or a private insurance company. She has a "philosophical and ethical" opposition to the U.S.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

I have no problem with concierge medicine as long as the practitioners involved have repaid all the costs that the state and corporations have subsidized in their educations, as long as their self-pay patients make sure that hospitals and clinics are paid in full, etc. For most of us, our healthcare is based on a mutual assurance system.

By Sharon Begley NEW YORK (Reuters) - Caught flat-footed by the challenges of building the financial-management and accounting parts of the U.S.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

A great example of how the system can dysfunction. That they used a no-bid approach, something Obama had already warned against, shows how disconnected from accountability much of government has become. Reminds me of the Soviet Union at its last. The bureaucrats are taking over the asylum.
