Maniac Attacks Dad With Daughter in Men’s Room at Walmart

Maniac Attacks Dad With Daughter in Men’s Room at Walmart | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Charles Adams was suckerpunched by a hate-filled shopper for letting his 5-year-old daughter use the boy’s room in an eerie echo of the trans panic sweeping America.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
Suddenly the madness that has become America hits home in a Walmart. Does anybody really care where that little girl relieves herself? What should the dad have done, send her into a ladies' room without him? Taken the kids into the family restroom and taken turns? Seriously, as a man I could care less if a guy brings his kid into the restroom.

The Daily 202: Trump’s attacks on the GOP’s most prominent Latina, Susana Martinez, should alarm Republicans

Seven reasons it’s a big problem
Kenneth Weene's insight:
Mr. Trump will hopefully bring out the Hispanic vote and with this kind of nastiness he will surely direct it towards the Democratic party. Along the way, he also seems determined to make women hate him. I guess the guy just lacks the sense god gave little geese. I can only hope that the rest of America has better judgment than this would-be POTUS.

Scientists: Underground stone rings made by Neanderthals - The Boston Globe | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Two mysterious stone rings found deep inside a French cave were probably built by Neanderthals about 176,500 years ago, proving that the ancient cousins of humans were capable of more complex behavior than previously thought, scientists say.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
I always knew my Neanderthal relatives were good for something more if we'd let them out of the cage.

Kenneth Weene's insight:
This is much better than using inmates as slave labor to serve industry. While they may be making only pennies for their work, they are at least helping the Earth and hopefully learning not only a skill that will help them find employment later in life but also a reverence for life and the world around them.

Why camels mean more than just money to Gaza's Bedouin - Al-Monitor: the Pulse of the Middle East

Why camels mean more than just money to Gaza's Bedouin - Al-Monitor: the Pulse of the Middle East | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Bedouin families in the Gaza Strip continue to breed camels, which are considered a significant part of Bedouin tradition and an important source of income.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
Living in a culture where almost everything is fungible, it is difficult for Americans to understand the value placed on camels among the Bedouin or cows among the Dinka and Masai of Africa, but there are things that matter beyond money in this world.

Unplugging the Colorado River

Unplugging the Colorado River | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Could the end be near for one of the West’s biggest dams?
Kenneth Weene's insight:
If they go through with this idea and actually open the gates of the Glen Canyon Dam, I wonder how they will decide who gets to go rafting and kayaking for one of the great water releases in history. Beyond that, it probably isn't going to change too much since the amount of water available is the same and as the climate changes that is a decreasing amount. What are your thoughts about dams? Have you visited any? Have you seen either of these lakes, Powell and Mead?

Sure, cats and dogs can't actually read, write or do arithmetic, but that hasn't stopped some of them from getting a degree. (schools, college, degrees, diplomas, pets, animals, diploma mills, fraud)

Did you know that Punky the Cat is a co-host of It Matters Radio? She even writes our monthly newsletter. Of course, she never did finish her degree, but we've been told by a reliable pigeon that she attended an ivy covered university. Bennett Freeze Thaw Finally Underway; Flurry of Activity To Improve Living Conditions

Bennett Freeze Thaw Finally Underway; Flurry of Activity To Improve Living Conditions | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
It’s nearly seven years since a law repealing the Bennett Freeze on the Navajo Nation, and still, residents are waiting to see the thaw.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
Given the disaster that the government has made of managing Native American lands, it's hight time that the tribes took over their own reservations. We can only hope that their management will be responsible and honest. The people, in this case the Navajo, certainly deserve a decent and respectful approach.

Kenneth Weene's insight:
In Israel a small movement towards sanity, the integration of schools and of cultures. It is very small and mostly for the smallest of children, but still it offers promise. If nothing else, perhaps it will force Israeli lawmakers to provide equal funding for Arab children. Call it segregation or apartheid, it is always wrong.

Congressional Candidate Shares Screenshot Of Porn Site Tabs | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
A Monday Facebook post from a Virginia congressional candidate intended to suggest a smoking gun behind a prank call ended up revealing much more.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
I can't help myself. I have to share this one. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a politician or anyone looking at porn as long as it doesn't involve kids or people forced into acts against their will. I just think it so wonderfully funny that politicians still don't realize how easily everything we do can be scrutinized, how incredibly easy it is to make fools of ourselves.

Try not to jiggle while watching these amazing bladeless wind turbines. | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
A startup in Spain has created a wonderfully innovative alternative to traditional wind turbines.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
Cheaper and more efficient so able to work in less wind. Also, these new turbines will be safer for birds and they are a lot neater looking. The only problem, we might all start jiggling along with them. Heck, maybe that can be part of my exercise plan, watch and jiggle.

While I don't see how the facts lead to the story's conclusion about government, I am more than willing to add more cheese to my diet. My problem is that most American cheese isn't that good. I love good cheese not the American mass-product. How about better artisanal cheeses American industry? Meanwhile, I'll have some gruyere and a nice piece of Brie.

When healthcare is expensive, the Amish culture of autonomy and thrift may be a way to balance communal support and individual responsibility. Sara Talpos finds out more.

Obviously, this is not the way healthcare can work for everyone, but as is often the case the seemingly quaint ways of the Amish offer some real value for exploration. If nothing else, you way want to buy a bottle of B&W for those kitchen burns.

As I see post after post about Bruce Jenner's transition to a woman, and I hear words like, bravery, heroism, and courage, just thought I'd remind all of us what real American courage, heroism, and bravery looks like!

Kenneth Weene's insight:

Proposed national park is a multimillion-dollar gift wrapped up in distrust

Proposed national park is a multimillion-dollar gift wrapped up in distrust | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
In Maine, a region battered by the closure of paper mills and traditionally wary of the federal government wrestles with the prospect of a national park.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
As a lover of Maine, I can see both sides of this controversy. The wilderness, in which I have camped, is glorious and worth seeing. However, the way of life is private and built around hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. The economic boost of a national park and tourism would be huge, but it would change that way of life and I can certainly understand why folks would not want to give up their small town ways. If you'd like to get a sense of that way of live, be sure to read my book "Broody New Englander" which one professor called the best book she'd ever read. Syria's first Kurdish university attracts controversy as well as students - Al-Monitor: the Pulse of the Middle East

Syria's first Kurdish university attracts controversy as well as students - Al-Monitor: the Pulse of the Middle East | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Syrian Kurds have big plans to expand the first university based in Rojava, which they launched just last year.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
I applaud the Kurdish people of Syria for creating a university to educate their your people. Of course, the very nature of such a school will provide impetus for Kurdish independence and opposition to Turkish and Syrian central governments. That is the nature of such ethnically and religiously specific schools, to stress the values and identities of their population. If the governments of Turkey, Syria, and what's left of Iraq don't want that to happen, then they should make it meaningful to have a Kurdish identity in each state. I don't see that happening, so I'll root for this school and its students. I wonder when they'll field their first football (soccer) team.

When the billboard has a brain - The Boston Globe

When the billboard has a brain - The Boston Globe | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Once in a while, you drive past a billboard that’s advertising something you’d actually like to buy — a juicy hamburger, comfortable shoes, a better car. It’s as if the advertiser is reading your mind.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
This is an interesting notion, the ability of billboards to gear what is displayed to places from which I've made calls. Of course, that will work, the same way the ads on #Facebook work. (LOL) I'm barged by ads for places I've decided I won't do business and others that I've already shop at. Absolutely no benefit to the advertisers and a pain in the ass for me. I wonder if the billboards will flash symphony concert tickets at me since one place I use my phone is during intermission and before concerts. And individually owned restaurants and coffee shops; guess that means I'd get adds for fast food and Starbucks. What ads would your phone generate?

North Pond Hermit discovered, arrested after 27 years in Maine woods - The Boston Globe

North Pond Hermit discovered, arrested after 27 years in Maine woods - The Boston Globe | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Christopher Knight told police he had lived undetected in a tent in the woods for 27 years, spoke with another person only once in that time, and did not know what he looked like. But Knight knew how to steal, authorities said, and how to stay hidden even though his tent lay within 600 yards of the nearest cabin. Such is the singular world of the man called the North Pond Hermit by the long-spooked residents here, where Knight is believed to have committed more than 1,000 burglaries since he left a computer-technician job and retreated to the forest. Now, he is residing in the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta, facing burglary and theft charges, as banjo players rhapsodize about him and bewildered Mainers shake their heads at the thought of 27 winters in the open.

Trump’s candidacy sparking ‘a surge’ in citizenship, voter applications

Trump’s candidacy sparking ‘a surge’ in citizenship, voter applications | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Amid talk of deportations and travel bans “there’s something new going on,” officials say.
Kenneth Weene's insight:
This may be Mr. Trump's greatest contribution to America, the political awakening of the Hispanic population. And with a thunderous Ole! they will support the Democratic party not just in this election but most likely for years. If that happens, he will truly have changed our country for the better; it is long since time for non-Cuban Hispanics to become political and to help not only build and defend this country but also to run it.
